Less than $20 as I remember. I used an old serial cable for the DB25 and wired it as per VRG's notes. Works great on my old laptop with freedos as the OS.Splinter wrote:How much did you pay for it?

Vikash, thanks for your quick reply. I was hoping. I love the scantool software you wrote. I'm having an intermittant problem with high idle on my '91 N/A and was looking at the IAC %-age and trying to see if another parameter was out of spec at the same time. Normally, the high idle returns back to...

I once lost two alternators in a row within a week until I discovered that the battery had an intermittant internal OPEN circuit. Battery tested good on the bench, but occasionally had an internal OPEN which took out the alternator. You can do the same by disconnecting your battery with the engine r...

Pardon me for being naive, How did you wire in the black and green connectors? It would certainly make it easier for me to pull the codes; I'm pretty sure it's not a serious issue with the car since it seems to be running normally (other than a slower than normal idle) but I'm trying to isolate/reso...

I took the comment about modules to mean software specific to the make/model of the car. The hardware that the seller is so vague about is the wiring for the plug and USB connector. I could certainly be wrong about that but I'm intriqued by it. By the way is there any way to get your scantool to dis...

The implication I got from his reply was that the two cars I asked about ('91 Legacy and '97 Impreza) were included in the CDs that he offered. I was more distressed about the vague response to the wiring question. It's not a lot of money and I'm almost tempted to buy them and send them to you for y...

OBD1 and OBD2 software?????
Found this on Ebay recently. Great idea if it works. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8015505037&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 I wasn't too thrilled with the response to my two questions (1. Will it work with my '91 n/a Legacy and my '97 n/a Impreza? "m...

Early Legacy Seatbelt; Is conversion possible?
I've got a '91 Legacy wagon which I'm very fond of. The only thing I don't like about it is the stupid seat belt arrangement that automatically slides into place when the door is closed and the car is started. Has anyone tried to replace that with a later version that is not so cumbersome? Are the b...
