Re: Push/Pull clutch disc(Urgent)

Measuring the pressure plate/flywheel surface I have enough room for at least 225mm Actually it measures 228mm My clutch disc is 215mm which might explain why it lasted on 16,000miles with my 2.5L set up. To widen my range what other Subaru's use the cable clutch? Calling ACT they say these disc's w...

Push/Pull clutch disc(Urgent)

I have the cable type clutch arm which is a push type clutch. I've just pulled off the transmission to swap it for another to find the clutch is worn a little(bummer). Seeing as I need the car for Monday I was searching for a clutch disc only(The flywheel and pressure plate are good) I've found seve...

Re: Back into rallying this year! Ok it's not the Legacy

No one of those Suzuki Swift 1300L GTI things. Handles and goes well but nothing as good as a Subie. I took this route because the cars are cheap. 100% tax in Costa Rica. So a 1998 GT turbo Impreza costs around $20,000 I sold my 83 Range Rover for $4700! check out http://www.crautos.com for some wha...

Back into rallying this year! Ok it's not the Legacy

After a 2010 rebuild I'm out rallying again in Costa Rica. New engine/Transmission/LSD plus tons of other stuff. I'm still running the un-breakable 04 STI front struts and Legacy front control bushes for engine mounts!

Came 3rd in the 1.6L class.

1997 outback AWD tranny into 1990 legacy?

I'm planning on buying a 97 outback AWD 5 speed this weekend. I'm told it will fit my 1990 cable clutch Legacy. Just checking this is the case before I buy.

Wanted: 4:11 2.2LS rear diff

If you have a good quiet 4:11 rear diff let me know. I prefer East coast if possible for cheaper and faster shipping.

Re: AWD rear wheel bearings and diff

Most likely I'll do the used hub route but for the diff I still need the bearing numbers. I tried the stealership but they couldn't help me. Anyone got a diff apart??

AWD rear wheel bearings and diff

I have a nice drone from the rear end which after 200,000miles and many rallies a bearing overhaul is long over due.

Anyone done the rear wheel bearings? bearings needed?

Diff I know how to pull apart, so I just need a list of bearings needed.

Wanted: 4:11 5 speed box in the Boston area

The Legacy box I have now is showing signs of its age so at some point I need to swap it. I'm in no rush but if someone has a 5 speed 4:11 in the boston area let me know.

Re: LSD photos and specs

I'm referring to the rear diff as this has a 8 bolt flange similar to the photo. Looking at the center diff there does not seem to be a flange to bolt the pinion to. I know it's a bit of a long shot that the Subaru rear diff and the Suzuki are the same but if I remember correctly they are similar. E...

Re: LSD photos and specs

if someone has a diff out can you measure the end to end length, Pinion flange diameter and number of splines? Or if someone on the East Coast has a duff one handy or one swapped from a LSD conversion let me know.

Re: loosing secont gear when hot

Yes 2nd gear can be a bitch on high mileage boxes. I had the same problem with my 100,000+ box until I swapped the oil for Coastal Synthetic blend 75/90 then all was well. Try changing the oil first.

2.2L and 2.5L Phase I block...bare...no crank

Lucky no one bought the 2.2L short motor as it was running when I pulled it out but the crank center bearing needs regrinding. So if some one wants the 2.2L block/rods and pistons it's yours for $15 plus shipping. Figure around $48 to the east coast area and $90+ most other places. I still have the ...

Re: 2.5L with a 2.2L crank

The idea was just to see what fits what. I figure there is a ton of Phase I blocks laying around with no cranks and even more complete 2.2L as donors. If it was just simple case of dropping the 2.2L crank/rods in the 2.5L phase I block it would be a cheap conversion for 2.2L owners.

2.5L with a 2.2L crank

I'm just playing with all the blocks and cranks I have laying around. Most likely someone has done the same thing but I thought I see it the 2.2L crank fits the 2.5L Phase I block? It does fit but with the 2.2L rods the pistons fall short of the deck by around 2mm. So is the 2.5L rod slightly longer...

If you need any info on 2.5L block with 2.2L heads let me know. I bulid such an engine in 2006 and it's still running great. In fact I never get tired of driving the Legacy with this engine

Re: FS: 2.5 Phase II bare block

The title says Phase II . The block is bare. Meaning in 2 halfs with no bolts, crank or rods. I'm selling the 2 halfs plus the pistons and rings. The engine was from a batch of engines I bought in CA to build one good engine which is now in my rally Legacy. This block I used for the crank and rods f...
