Ok I had to push my 91 legacy turbo with another car from a shop. While It was being pushed I found out the problem with the automatic transmission.

Reverse, 3rd, 4th work!

1st and 2nd do not.

Does anyone have any idea why!?

Simple question: which is the better ej20 or ej22t proformance wise.

Im considering buying an early model impreza and shoving in one of the two engines.

Im not sure if this has allready been covered but, I was wondering if a Ej22t could be swaped into an impreza AWD of particularly the earliest years? And if it fits would there be any mechanical problems such as power loss or the drive shaft not being able to handle the hp etc?

And Ciper your saying that all I need to do is take a 4.11 transmission and a 4.11s ring and pinion and put them in my car.

:x I have figured that there is no inexspensive way to fix my transmission. Its hard enough to find a transmission that will fit in my 91 legacy turbo, but even if I do they're just as exspensive as geting an original trans, its even more exspensive to get it rebuilt. So unless any one has or knows ...

Well, I want to put the transmission in is my 91 turbo, but the L is either 90 or 91.

Ciper(or anyone) are you absolutly sure that the transmission from the 90-91 L would work?

Well folks I have a problem.Although, thanks to you all you guys I do have the facts :). From the information gathered I have a couple of choices for my 91 Legacy turbo that still doesn't have a working auto transmission! I can put in a trans that has a 3.9 rear diff, the problem only legacy turbos ...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that 91 legacy turbos have a Limited Slip Differential. If so I was wondering if there would be a problem if I put in a transmission (with a matching rear differential) from a car that doesn't have a LSD?

Thanks for the info. Just to be clear, an auto from a legacy turbo or any legacy or maybe an impreza would fit? And does it have to be AWD or turbo tor the tranny to work?

:evil: I have a 91 legacy turbo (automatic) it will not not go into any of the drive gears, it only gos in reverse. But before when was driveable it acted like it was the break band problem when driven. If it is the break band could some body clearify where the hell it is? I was told by a subaru dea...
