you mean the temp in the house wasn't really going up ? how far below the thermostat set-point was it ? Was it turning off on thermostat reaching setpoint ? the 150-175 you set is reasonable but if the boiler is a bit on the smallish side you may have to jack that up a bit, but stay under 190. A 20 ...

If you are really getting 230F water, your boiler would have exploded by now. actually it would have blasted water/steam out the pressure relief regardless of the condition of the expansion tank you need to check into that. As I said above, heating water above the temperature necessary to comfortabl...

I should have mentioned, that if you have an "instant" hot water system rather than a conventional tank heater, it is possible for the heat exchanger to be cracked, which causes supply line cold water to enter the heating system, since house supply is 50-100 psi normally. It is also possib...

It is likely that your expansion tank air bladder is flat as a pancake and waterlogged. It has an air bladder in it, so as to accomodate expansion of the water when it gets hot. If the air is not at the correct pressure, or similarly if your cold water starts at too high a pressure (thus compressing...

Obviously look for rust and usual wear and tear. Personally I wouldn't have the auto if one fell out of the sky. It would be a continual death watch on the tranny. You can likely expect that suspension items will need attending (new struts x 4, sway bar bushings), so don't underestimate the conditio...

In my experience this is either caused by a faulty connection, so clean as vrg says, or sometimes even by having differing bulbs in one side versus the other the system looks at the resistance so if it varies a lot due to corrosion or dissimilar bulbs, the idiot light comes on. I usually clean the b...

there is a 10-17mm difference in offset so they may or may not work depending upon tire choice. You may strike the fenders in the front. There will be a little more stress on the bearings but I don't think that is a big deal, personally so, the wheels have the correct hubcentricity ? right ? or do s...

if you want to drain the steering fluid you have to take a line off the rack, and then turn it left and right making a complete mess this drains maybe 80% of it, not all, you can't really get the rest out without removing the rack. There is rarely a reason for doing this unless some idiot poured in ...

you are SOL, mate. Your pic is good enough to see that the nylon is shot. You'll be able to break it up in your hands, which means it is weak all over. When they do that, they are gone. If you repair that spot, you'll not make it more than a month or so before some other area blows out. nylon is a c...

In my considerable experience with plastic radiator tanks, and with plastics in general, it appears that when one nipple cracks, all the glass-nylon parts have lost their heat stabilizer and will go very fast right down the crapper If you grab the cracked part you could probably crumble the entire t...

pack it into a fiber drum (55 gal size) that will allow it to be moved with a hand truck.

its the pallet that's killing you, that is too big and it puts you into dimensional weight, and extra charges for non-commercial docks

a fiber drum, business to business will be under $100 easily.

it is the plain-shank part of the bolt that stretches, it is made to stretch there to keep the distortion away from the threaded portion. The bolts are actually cleverly heat treated, or tapered, such so the threads are stronger than the shank. I don't know of any way to tell if they are bad other t...

if you squirt a little oil into #3 and repeat the compression test, and find that it improves quite a bit for a short while then you have worn rings / beat piston / cracked rings etc not a burnt valve if the reading stays the same after the oil is added then its likely valve-related use about a tabl...
