well, they're approved to fit a 5.5" width, so i figured the installers wouldn't have a problem with them.

205/60 on OEM 14x5.5" wheels? rubbing?

i'm looking at a set of falken 512 for my stock class autox legacy/daily driver. anyone run a 205/60 on OEM 14x5.5" wheels? any rubbing problems? $215 including shipping from discounttire isn't a bad price. 8.3" section and 6.7" tread width (on a 6" wheel). compare that to the pa...

DIY: $15 grounding kit

here's my $15 grounding kit. anyone with 10+ year old OEM grounds that are corroding and starting to turn green needs to do this. 90% of all 10+ yr old car electrical problems are because of a bad ground signal. here's what you need: one 12" 4gauge top post style battery ground $5 one 32" ...

he's referring to "sparco" as the style of the seat, not the brand. he says they look like RX7 seats.

i think these are the style:

buy a set of tools, some jack stands, a torque wrench and a repair manual. if you can follow instructions, and can turn a wrench, you can do what any professional mechanic does. i've saved myself thousands on car repairs over all the years. no to mention all the aftermarket stuff i've done. i just p...

maybe try www.raceeng.com for the valves the OEM ecu will be able to handle even fairly agressive cams. the problem is that you'll never see the full potential of them until you get some form of a programmable system and get them dyno tuned. you'll want to make sure they are turbo specific cams. low offset 14" wheels with snow treads for winter?

i have a set of toyota camry 5x100 14" steel wheels and a set of 14" blizzak snow tires that i was planning to run this winter. however, upon measuring the backspacing, OEM subaru is ~130mm (5 1/8"), and the camry's are ~115mm (4.5"). so, i'm going to guess that makes the camry's...

1997 springs in the front (from wagon, auto, AWD, abs), 1994 wagon springs in the rear all on new KYB GR2s

the car seems to handle pretty well, and doesn't feel un-balanced at all. then again, i didn't have anything to compare to before

so, i installed the springs last night.

my top hats, mounts, shocks, etc are all IDENTICAL to the 97's. only difference is in springs. my car is sitting a good .5-.75" higher in the front than it should be. but, that's OK. theres 9" chassis clearance in the front and rear now

so, in other words, yes... the 2nd gen works fine.

yes because i am getting the entire strut/spring assembly, so i can use the 2nd gen tophats

thanks. it confirmed my suspicion

97 Leg AWD front springs on my 94 Leg L AWD

I just need to know that they will bolt on to my 94 shocks if i use the 97 top hats. i'm getting the front strut/spring assembly from a local salvage yard, and i'm putting the springs on my new 94 L GR2s.

weight works out to be damn near the same, so the rates should be good.

I've heard the PBR a lot of times. Are they hard on rotors, though? not any harder than any other performance pad you're going to trade more dust, noise (potentially) and wear for improved braking. i am VERY hard on brakes. i don't even bother turning rotors any more. i just pick up a generic el-ch...

of course, larger brakes not only disapate (sp?)heat better, but they provide more braking power

the problem is that the cost of upgrading (in both brakes and wheels/tires) gets quite expensive.

OEM legacy brakes are quite large, and offer plenty of power. 99% of braking performance is in the pad compund. i always use generic brand blank rotors from USA chain autozone/napa stores for ~$20 each. brand name, slotted/drilled and treated rotors are pointless on a street car. ALL pads from EBC a...

well, being that it gets so damn cold here in MI winters, i'll be running 2qts syncromesh and 2qts gear oil then. my car will see a lot of winter driving, including ice racing.
