Re: Manual shifter issues
If you're about to remove your trans to do a clutch, that is the best time to do shifter bushings. It's a pain in the balls to do with the trans still in the car, especially if it's AWD. This thread will help you visualize what kind of job it is. I have to do it on my B4 soon and I am not looking fo...

Re: Manual shifter issues
Does you shifter flop around a lot, especially from side to side, when it's in gear. That's the tell-tale sign of worn-out shifter bushings.
It sounds more like your clutch is on its way out. How long ago did you replace it?

Re: Subaru sales up 13%, Impreza sales down 38%
My point is that Subaru really hasn't changed all that much. We have. Very well put. I couldn't agree with this more. Yeah, aside from my bitching about the framed windows and stuff like that, Subaru hasn't done anything different than any other car company. The market changes, customer demands cha...

Re: Subaru sales up 13%, Impreza sales down 38%
I must be in the minority for liking the new Impreza better than the 08 model. It looks a hundred times better, IMO. I like the new grill, I like the new headlights, those God-awful clear taillights are gone, and the interior is nicer and better laid-out as well. The only thing I don't like about th...

My JDM Legacy B4 RSK
This just happened a few minutes ago... https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4361/36320031333_7230677bca_b.jpg :-D The car will finally get parked in the next couple weeks for the shifter-bushings-from-hell job. I have some parts on the way from the UK and I got two OEM downpipe gaskets thrown in with the...

pzev exhaust on 94'
Keep in mind, it's been a few years since I worked at a Subaru dealer, but those are not PZEV headers. Those are just normal headers from any standard 08-up (I think) 4cyl nonturbo Subaru. The PZEV exhaust is completely different. The headers go straight back, and I think the right one is the long o...

NASIOC is busy AF
If enthusiasm & community were deciding factors in car shopping, NASIOC would make me refuse to buy a Subaru.

Re: 1984 Subaru Leone GLF (kinda rare)
There was some coachbuilding company that did the convertible conversions on the GLF coupes, right? I can't remember the name of that company.
I love Gen 2s. If I ever decide to try my hand at an old-gen Subaru again, it will almost certainly be a Gen 2. I just love their lines. Best of luck!

Re: My JDM Legacy B4 RSK
That's the 2014 Forester XT I had for review last week... I don't even think 2014 Foresters are on sale yet. For whatever reason, there's no external hoodscoop, just ductwork that gathers air from the grille and sends it into the TMIC. I'll say this much, it's definitely not gutless! It's a 2.0L dir...

Re: Camless Valvetrains
Yeah, and there's also more load on the camshafts with the desmodromic valves too, come to think of it, since they have the responsibility of both opening and closing the valves. That's not an issue with the pneumatic valves. Nonetheless, Ducati has been racing quite successfully with desmodromic va...

The radiator support. If you're in a body shop or a parts department, you'll often hear it referred to as a core support.

Camless Valvetrains
Good to know.
But I wonder why they don't use desmodromic valves. I would think that would be less complex and/or more reliable.

Re: Camless Valvetrains
What MConte said. It's still prohibitively expensive for a consumer application at this point. Someone who follows Formula 1 closer than I do can say this for sure, but I believe all F1 engines now have electrically-actuated valves, primarily because of valve float. I think they got to a point where...

Re: Auto to Auto Swap
Welcome to the board. The SS made some 180 ft-lbs of torque, if memory serves me correctly, so any transmission from a 2.5L Subaru shouldn't have a problem handling the torque, provided it's been properly cared for and you don't plan on making huge horsepower. I don't think any newer transmission is...

Re: 100% gasoline good stuff
I've mentioned this before, but this is a good thread to bring it up again. Gasoline is a fungible product or a commodity. For example the Valero (Shell) refinery in Beaumont, TX is producing gasoline that will go into another company's tank farm and pipeline, and as long as the gasoline from BP's ...

Re: Power Steering pump differences
If you're going to attempt the pump rebuild yourself, read through the thread Josh posted thoroughly, even multiple times if you have to. Though they may not seem complicated, they're easy to screw up... I had to redo mine twice before I got it right :? I recall the pumps changing either for 92 or 9...

Re: 100% gasoline good stuff
I, too, find ethanol practices to be questionable both logically and ethically. But keep in mind, everybody (especially those of you with tuned cars), that ethanol raises your octane. As Josh and I were discussing here , E10 fuel can raise your octane as much as 1-2 points. That's pretty much enough...

I love them. They're one of two ways I would get back in a Honda (the other being the NSX). Yeah, you have to rev the piss out of them... that's the point. You can go very, very fast in an S2000 if you know what you're doing. But yeah, I couldn't believe that I was arguing with my ex over car stuff....

Thanks, everyone, for making this the only automotive forum on the Inte...
