Re: 1993 Ford Spectron XL-T

Honestly, in my experience, the two major things to watch for when shopping for 25-year Japanese imports are rust and previous accident damage/repair. It's surprisingly hard to find a JDM car that has not had at least one minor fender bender in its life. Other than that, it's up to your personal pre...

Re: 20 years of Legacy Central

I haven't owned a 1st-gen Legacy in some 7 or 8 years. I still own a Subaru, but as I get older and my responsibilities continue to grow, my spare time for leisurely online surfing continues to dwindle. Thus, my activity here has all but dropped off a cliff, and it appears the same has happened for ...

1993 Ford Spectron XL-T

I already had this C&P'ed for posting somewhere else so I figured I might as well share it here for your entertai... I mean, enjoyment  For no other reason other than I'm a goddamned lunatic, I now own a 1993 Ford Spectron XL-T! "I'm sorry, a what?" I can hear you all saying... ... a 1993 Ford ...

Re: My JDM Legacy B4 RSK

I'll update this thread one last time... I'm just a little more than two weeks away from 35 and life is just getting too busy to devote to online forums and social media anymore. So, for the past few months, Okichi had been occasionally throwing a code for a knock sensor. That infuriated me to no en...

Re: My JDM Legacy B4 RSK

Thanks to Photobucket's assholery, I've decided to download all my worthwhile pics from Photobucket and upload them to Flickr instead and slowly update all the hotlinks throughout this thread. I still have Okichi, of course. In fact, she's my only transportation right now as Hurricane Irma is predic...

Re: My JDM Legacy B4 RSK

I actually only ran the car through two car washes on the trip. One on the south end of Georgia and one when I got to Nashville. I actually have video from my dash cam somewhere of the car going through the car wash in Nashville at the hands of the personnel there and them flipping out over it being...

New media outlets!

So I apologize for shamelessly plugging my most current projects, but I'm involved in two new media outlets now, and I thought you all would enjoy them. I started off with Examiner.com, which is now defunct, but I have my own website now called Boosted News. www.boostednews.com It's also on all the ...

Re: My JDM Legacy B4 RSK

My God, it's been nearly a year and a half since I've updated this thread. After replacing the timing belt, the clutch (same pull-style as an EJ205 WRX), the struts (using ZF Sachs struts for a USDM BE chassis Legacy; I will try to have Bilstein USA rebuild my originals), and the saga with the leaki...

Re: LSS Front Caliper Retrofit

I have to disagree with the notion that 17" tires are overpriced. As the industry standard wheel size gets bigger and bigger, the prices on tires come down. I can get a Nexen CP671 tire in a 205/55-16 (which is the stock 02-05 WRX tire size) for $77.99. If I get the exact same Nexen CP671 tire in a ...

Re: Subaru rear LSD types Discussion

The Datsun 510 guys are known to use Subaru LSDs as upgrades for their cars, since 510s also came with R160 differentials.

I found this thread in some of my research, and it's good for identifying certain types of Subaru LSDs:

Re: Rear differential nightmare

Thanks for the advice, guys. The grey, curing RTV? Or the blue RTV that doesn't cure and stays tacky? I think you all will have a better answer to this as well... I know this is probably being unreasonable, but I want to get new bearing races to press into the new retainers beforehand, to save me th...

Rear differential nightmare

The 4.111 LSD rear differential in my B4 has been adorned with more pampering and TLC than any R160 differential deserves. Last year, I had to replace the pumpkin cover that I cracked, and around 6 months ago, the left side seal started leaking. So, I decided I was going to remove the entire differe...

Re: For the first time in...

First off, TTIWWOP ;) Second, excellent choice, though I'm partial to the 1st-gen Fit. Honestly, I miss mine more than I thought I would. I got mine brand-new in late 2007, so I definitely miss the worry-free simplicity of new-car ownership, but it was an awesome little car on top of that. A lot of ...

Quickly compiling some information here: The police have been to his house... his Focus is there. But his WRX, his mountain bike, and he are missing. So it is believed that he went out on a mountain bike ride and injured himself along the way and is unable to call for help. Here's a list of trailhea...

PNW guys, a friend of mine is missing... need your help!

Hey guys, sorry I've been absent for a while. I know a lot of you are in the Northwest... I need you to keep your eyes out for a friend of mine who's been missing in the Seattle area since Saturday. Here's his NASIOC profile: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/member.php?u=103466 He drives a bugeye WRX...
