Well it's still in the shop at the moment. The good news is that the flex plate wasn't cracked after all. The bad news is that apparently the torque converter got swapped for a non-turbo version at some point in the past and needs replaced, the turbo is seized (which definitely explains why it felt ...

The flexplate is like a circular bracket that connects the torque converter to the engine. It sits where the flywheel would in a manual tranny car (and bolts to the engine in the same way). I'm not actually sure if this is what is wrong with the car or not, though. The guy I bought it from said his ...

I was quite happy with the results when I upgraded the front bar on my 2.5RS. Yes, it does increase steady state understeer, but a stiffer front bar also improves turn-in and tends to reduce body roll more than a rear bar (partly because more weight is in the front). Also, due to the reduction in bo...

Re: My newly acquired 1991 Legacy Turbo

(I'd search but I've been searching for a ton of stuff since I registered here and the search engine is really starting to annoy ...

unless you can figure out how to modify the stock bov so it doesn't intake air at idle. You mean like this? http://www.autospeed.com/cms/A_0344/article.html BTW, AutoSpeed is an AWESOME site. They have tons of DIY projects and while most of the best tech articles require subscription it is definite...

My newly acquired 1991 Legacy Turbo
I bought this car over the weekend. It is in amazingly good shape (interior is in great condition and the exterior has only a few notable issues and pretty much everything works) and was ridiculously cheap ($750  ). I'm not driving it yet as it has a problem with the drivetrain (current suspe...
