Does the triptometer still function normally? assuming you're asking me :D ... My word choice was bad. by "slow" I meant "moves across the gauge face at a slow speed." so it accurately represents my speed but not my acceleration. And accordingly, the tripometer functions properl...

My speedo is slow and sticky. It doesn't like to move unless the speed change is like 3-5 mph. Also, when it IS moving, it's pretty slow. any way to" clean it or something?

My only real worry is that the turbo sounds like it actually speeds up when I let off on the throttle. jsut for a second before it goes back down. has anybody else noticed this? It seems that would be a bad thing.

Thanks for the warning. I'll certainly take that under consideration. I'm still elated with this new car, and it's going to be a while before I feel teh need to mod the tranny. It already shifts gobs harder than the Impreza because of the added torque. I get pinned to my seat during shifts instead o...

Vacuum bypass mod

Here's the link to the mod in "the library" http://www.xmission.com/~dac/library/shik_bypass.htm I tried this with weird results. I have no boost gauge yet, but I could tell my boost was all over the place. maybe the ECU was just learning. But when I'd let off the throttle, it sounded like...

So this makes the tranny shift faster/harder? sounds like a worthwhile mod. Sorry if I missed something, but are there specific instructions on this?

Huh. the first thing a bud of mnine said was "maybe the dolenoid is sticky." so maybe that's it. I'm getting a boost gauge in a couple days, so I'll know then. I'm planning on an EBC. a guy on the i-club sells the "boostmonkey," and that seems to work real well. I'm assuming it'l...

Iggdawg, are you letting your car reach normal operating temps before taking it up into boost? very good question, and yes. I've always been good about that. I wait for the car to get to temp, and then another several miles for the drivetrain to heat up. I learned all about the care and feeding of ...

Ok. That's kinda what I figured. I did a light brakestand without launching to spike the heat a little. I ran out and touched both hoses to see which one felt much hotter than the other and it was the top one. so I assumed that was the one coming from the tranny, which would concur with what you're ...

I see what you mean. Use the new cooler to to cool the really hot stuf to less hot, and have the radiator either warm or further cool the fluid to optimal temperature? makes sense. and that would eliminate the whole "not getting up to temperature for f'n ever on cold days" problem. I've dr...

Prolly mostly due to AVCS. That way they can play with cam timing to get more breath. And they're DOHC, so there's less reciprocating mass to worry about.

tranny cooler install question

Hey all. I'll be tossing in a tranny cooler for my 4EAT today or tomorrow. I've found the lines for the radiator section of the present tranny cooling system. My question is: Which of hte 2 lines, top or bottom, is the line to the radiator and which one coems from the radiator? I need to tap the rig...

Funny thing was that it was so damn cold this morning that I'd expect her to be a little faster. What are some things that'll cause unexpected hesitation/ moodyness? Possible culprits: fuel filter spark plugs spark wires knock sensor unknown intake leaks any more? I've replaced the plugs and fuel fi...

How moody is your car?

Sometimes my engine will tear up the road, and other times it seems very lax. Usually she's quick like a bunny when I want her to be, but this morning she just had no fight in her at all :( . How moody are your cars? My Impreza is much less moody. The 2.5 is pretty predictable. My last Saab 900 turb...

I have a 3/8" or so aluminum skidplate and rear diff cover on my '02 Impreza (GDA-style). I'm assuming the rear diff box will be a direct bolt-on. I'm hoping that I'll be able to drill holes in the plate and get it to fit. I got mine at www.rumblesoftracing.com . They sell the GC8 plates too, a...

yeah it will work. your speedo will just read a little low. basically, you will be going faster than what your speedo says. the closest size for legacy is a 205/50-16. this is just slightly smaller than stock. :o You're kidding? I played with that thing on my '02 Impreza TS. It was fun :D . It's definitely a FWD car with that fuse in place. Spinning the wheels is no problem. In fact, it's kinda tough to avoid. Bigger hood scoop?

are there any aftermarket places out there where I could get a slightly larger hoodscoop? I realize that one would come stock with a GC8 chassis :D, but I'd rather like to keep this one for the time being. If I get a TMIC, I'll be wanting a little more airflow over the scoop.

I wrote a nice bit on how rally is up-and-coming and they would do well to keep their position as the only carriers of this holy sport.

Then I told them to kill high-rev tuners instead. That crap belongs on Comedy Central.
