Yes I am runnin my maf in a blow through, yes my iac is after the maf, and yes the pcv is mounted pre turbo on the intake for the turbo so the air it takes in is probley unmetered. Also I have double and triple checked for boost leaks and even when I blow a coupler the car still does not run as bad...

how is your system setup? are you running your MAF in blow through? your IAC taps into the intake after the MAF right? Ig you'er running blow though, your PCV also needs to be eliminated from the intake and routed pre turbo. That is actualy the least ideal but unless you add a second PCV valve it's ...

I have that exact header. the build quality seems pretty good for the price. The engine isn't running yet and I need to modify my header anyway (I run a big turbo :) ) but I think it'll work out pertty well. Worth the cash IMHO and whoever won that auction got it even cheaper than I did (I think I p...

ahh... you cut the MAF... I ruined one trying to do this. the vibrations from cutting it broke it. make/buy an adapter. That's what I did after I hosed one from cutting.

I'd run either the stock EJ22/EJ22T plug BKR6E-11 or a regular BKR6E at 0.030" gap like an EJ205 has. All the turbo Subaru EJ engines basicaly used the same plug. Some NA EJ25s were a temp range hotter though. Late models run a platinum plug, but I recomend a regular v-power since you're moding...

what year is your car? do you have the JECs (plastic) or hitachi(aluminim) MAF stock? The hitachis are hot wire and seem to break easily (I broke mine) the jecs is a thin film and seems to work much better. you can swap a jecs for a hitachi with wiring changes, but without changing wiring it will kn...

that's why I did to make my IAC work with a MY00 EJ25 manifold.

For a grand, the car is probably worth it. The pully might not even be a problem. On most cars they look like they are wobly, and the squeaking could be any of the pullys or the belt istelf. If the pully i serperated (quite possable) any EJ subaru one will work, I've got a few or you culd get an alu...

Most shops will charge in the area of 1k by the time you are done doing headgaskets if you do it right (pressure check the heads, valve etc , surface them ) parts etc plus labor. that's rebuilding the heads. No need to do that if all that's bad is the gasket. Granted, if you wanted to, it's a good ...

You really should just do the heads and a manifold swap. The heads are clearly the biggest bottleneck in these engines. With good heads, you're limited only by the size of your turbo and quality of your tuning. With the heads and a good turbo, you could pretty easily make the 250whp number I think. ...

there are specific ways to diagnose a bad head gasket, I wouldn't jump to that conclusion unless that's the problem beyond a doubt. The cooling system in Subarus can often be hard to burp for air. Make sure you use the vent on the radiator. Radiators in these cars often go bad or clogg up, the fans ...

for a Phase 1 DOHC EJ25 you need a manifold off the same car, 96-99 EJ25 DOHC The bolts on the intake manifold will all be inline, as they should be on your heads. The runners are also a little more oval shaped.

waldo320 wrote:Will an 04 wrx intake manifold swap over to 99 legacy gt dohc heads, swaping out iac throttle body of course?
no, 04 should be the same bolt pattern as EJ25 SOHC heads with the offset pattern, 99 DOHC heads are inline and a little smaller. Plus the manifolds are about 8mm different in length.

Everything that is mechanical bolts up, i.e. water pump oil pan, transmission ect. You will need the dohc intake mainfold. But you can use almost all of the sensors off the 94 intake. With the exception of maybe the fuel rails, im not sure. You will want to use your existing harness and sensors. Th...

speaking of pistons, since i am going with custom ones anyway, is there anything you would change about the subarus stock piston design? you might want to try to match the quench area to the head since you're running different heads than the piston was designed for. Other than that, just figure wha...

The easiest thing for you to do would be to just find another fwd car with a 5sp. They are a dime a dosin (around here at least). Like I said before I bought mine for $800. oh, and don't re-ring the engine. You'll be putting more money into it than it's worth. If you think the rings are bad, just get another used engine, it'll be WAY cheaper.

that's because you went to the stealership. They don't want to work on your old car. Go to a regular shop, the job will likely come in around $400 - $600 depending on what you actualy need. You can do a head job with the engine in the car, I've done it a few times. If you're doing both heads though,...

I was running 6-7 psi intercooled with no management and really no problems save for hot days. That was on the Toyota CT-26 turbo, which is a LOT larger and more efficient than anything that ever came on a Subaru. New setup is a 60-1 T3/T4 which should be mildly better suited to the Subaru engine.
