what does your timing map look like? I'm interested in seeing your numbers. also, what gap do you use on your spark plugs? I'm running a max 27* advance on my rally car because I've got no way to check the knock with the Link ECU. the 27* is around 5000rpm at -0vac, it's 16-18* at 20PSI and 5000rpm ...

The only person that can make that decision is you. If that is the only noise it's making then you *should* be ok. If you have doubts, drop the transmission and open it up and rebuild it. Also these transmission DO NOT like to engage 1st gear if you are moving. It wears that synchro very fast. Mine...

Sounds like a normal noisy 5MT transmission in a legacy to me. Nothing to worry about - first gear is always noisy. it depends entirely on the pitch of the teeth that the gears were cut at, and AFAIK 1 and 2 are cut at a shallower pitch than 3, 4, and 5 are. when 5MT's go bad is when they start maki...

thought some of you might like this. Turned on rot idle today since the fuel map was in good shape.

It's from over the big pond, I believe. I bought it from someone on this forum - just can't remember who.
Think I paid $75 for the AWIC.

it just doesn't make sense to me to have all the vitals in front of the car exposed. One mess up and your motor could be destroyed. Uhm, any messup at all and it doesn't really matter if there's a bumper there or not, you're going to do damage. Think about it! Frontal impacts are almost non-existan...

I added a new video, this one with a camera mount I built this afternoon. Much better viewpoint!
Also got the MBC working right and dialed the boost down to 15-16PSI

I want to run a cage because a roll at 50mph in this car will still be pretty nasty. If you ever take the covers off the steel around the B pillars, pull the seatbelt tracks out, and take a real good look, it might bother you too! Plus, I need a way to get a 5 point harness anchored in the car. A ca...

no clue what it weighs, but if I had to guess I hear most wagons are around 3100. The bumpers were 85 with covers or so? the interior, fuel tank, door cards and dash, well I imagine most everything else was between 200 and 300 pounds. I put it in the vicinity of 2700lbs; hopefully lighter. Hell, the...

Today I took my rally car out on the road for one more drive before it gets too cold here in Nashville. It was a beautiful 70F today. First, this is the car: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWw5Y5Ndo4Y This is a quick 1-2 pull I did on my street, I didn't take it any further cause this is still a nei...

Well this is just strictly a rally car, it probably won't see a thousand miles a year since I'm towing it on a trailer. I'm trying to figure out what sort of coils I need to purchase; I've got two ignitors and don't mind using those all day long since I can get them for a few bucks at any parts yard...

Ignition Coil Windings.
FYI, another thing I learned in my endeavors with my rally car. (new Link G4 Storm ECU in, btw) Anyway, I sourced a second ignitor and was going to use a spare coil to do direct ignition (rotational idle, antilag, that goodness); however, each POST on the coil is attached to it's own winding; even t...

Oil Squirter Pressure.
FYI, one of mine was in the pan when I dropped the engine in about four years ago.
I found it in a box when digging through stuff tonight and decided to pressure test it. It opens at 60PSI.
I assume all others are the same.

PS Pump pressure thread size
Does anyone know the size of the female threads on the power steering pump? I've looked through FSM's and couldn't find it, I need to figure this out so I can finish my stainless steel braided connections to the pump. FYI: The WRX PS Pump is a 14mmx1.5mm threaded w/ o-ring. it's smaller than our con...

You're not running shop air to manifold, are you? Nope, was a quick replacement for an open pcv hole - will end up putting a bolt in there later. Nice welds  Now see, that's a fantastic attitude there; why? I've had this mig welder a week now, and this is the first actual piece I've b...

About 50% complete here. air will be drawn from the passenger headlight area (no headlight installed, of course) if you didn't notice; this isn't a street car (at all). It's my rallycross/autocross car and it's about 40% till it's first race. all the pictures from today's events: http://gallery.thel...

Well, that's not true anti-lag really; that's sort of semi-half-ass-antilag. True antilag is controlled by the computer as a function of the normal map; without making changes to your normal map it will bump your timing to 30+ ATDC, use a stepper motor or other method to open the throttle to feed th...
