I think that on a turbo car, only in the worst case circumstances could the TB get iced up. The nice thing about a mod like this one is that it should be easy enough to make it reversible very quickly.

When i regain interest in the car, and when it stops snowing, maybe i'll do it.

If you can get me pics of your car, i can put them on my site and you can just link from there. My site is on a different system as the bbs, at least for now, and i do not want to tax the bandwidth or storage space of the bbs box, even though most of it is mine. The BW we have is free, and i want to...

I replaced mine with a custom setup, and no cats, and it does pull a lot harder even though my cats weren't clogged.

It also passes emissions!

That's a perfect description of torque bind, the low-speed, turning and acceleration. It won't happen much over 10mph or when going in a straight line.

Noah (suberboy) is a local friend who is putting a older EJ20 from a JDM Legacy in his 93 Wagon. It's a nice closed-deck one that's he's going over, before tossing the 1.8 out. He also owned a Legacy in the past, a BD Wagon if i'm not mistaken.

Al knows so much that we can't kick him out :D

Mine peaks at 6700, and i have my MSD set at 6750. It pulls pretty hard all the way till that point.

1st thing that a turbo owner should do: replace the damned boost solenoid and install a gauge. So many people have hesitation problems, and find out that their boost is funky after installing a gauge that the first thing i can recommend is a cheap MBC and a gauge, to replace the 8-11yr old solenoid,...

The WRX and Turbo trans are of the same design, so the flywheels, pressure plates and clutches for the WRX will fit the Turbo, no problem.

I have an STI Group N clutch and non-US WRX PP on mine, with an Exedy flywheel. Very fun.

Sounds like torque bind to me. I had those symptoms, and less than a year later, the AWD didn't work at all. I swapped in a 5MT, been unbelievably happy ever since. This problem is related to worn and bad compenents in the rear section of the transmission, where the power transfer happens. Apparentl...

I know one person who replaced their cracked moonroof, only to have it break almost immediately after.

If it doesn't leak from the glass, i'd leave it unless you can find one in a yard.

My sunroof leaks, and after taking down the headliner and checking all four vents, i found that they were perfectly fine. What i was able to see, with the headliner off and while i had a hose running on the roof, was that the seal around the roof lets in a good amount of water. What i finally settle...

I've got HAs in mine.

$750 is a very good deal, especially with such low miles.

However, if they're for a 2002, the rear suspension is waaaaaay different, so i'm almost positive that it wouldn't work.

I've heard from a few sources that the stock cast pistons are good for 250-300hp, if the engine is managed right.

Cobb Tuning will be introducing the ability to reporogram and and all Subaru ECUs in the near future, including ours. Things such as the rev limit, speed limiter, boost and fuel/air setting will be able to be changed by them, in house.

I'll let you all know if/when i find out more.

Indeed.

After i snipped the AT/MT wire, the idle dropped to normal levels.

I still haven't hooked up the reverse lights or neutral switch, or even the Cruise, but i know someone who has. Problem is, he's on a trip right now for months, and my old ICQ messages are gone.

No CEL. No TCU.

The STis make a huge difference, especially with stiffer springs and struts, and are basically required for coilovers.

My old set is going with the DMS 40s, i have TEIN PBMs now and there's nothing that can compare to a PBM.

I'd point you to pics of mine, but it's the version not made to get the ends out of the way of the intercooler.

Here's a pic anyway, and a link to the writeup:

Sounds more like tranny issues than anything.

Did the Bosch Plats help, hinder or not affect the problem at all?

Check the ATF, smell it and see if it's burnt.

A friend of mine swapped an EJ22T into a 96 Impreza and uses the stock ECU that worked with the 1.8. Idle is funny, but otherwise it does most of the chores of the original ECU just fine.

He's using a manual boost controller and an AFC to get proper fueling.
