'91 SS for sale not running (car has been sold)

car is complete and in good shape but engine is out of car. Ej22t intercooled needs a rebuild. 5-speed and limited slip still in car are in excellent condition. Bilstien struts are in excellent shape. Have a bunch of extra body parts for car. Lost interest in the project, would prefer not to part ou...

I just checked the dealer, new mast is $60 sedan and wagon are different. there's a part number break before and after sept. 90. later number is good through MY94 so I don't know if the '95 wagon will fit. It may be that the only difference between them is the bezel but I say for sure. If the motor ...

P/P ej22t heads

Is it worth doing a P/P on ej22t heads? If so, to what extent? Eventually I'll get around to picking up a set of ej20g heads but the 22t is being rebuilt soon and that's what I have to work with now.

Is it possible that I popped the head gasket(s) first , leading up to this unfortunate debacle? 265,000 mi on a turbocharged engine and all probably had something to do with it. I do know that it had never overheated prior to this. Boost has been at 10lbs for al least the last 90,000 mi without a hi...

heh, oh boy, the heater worked great, that's why I pulled over when it started blowing cold air. I don't have a dismounted waterpump handy but it's got to have some method of circulating water across the element while it's closed. I can't figure out why it would overheat like that when I doubled or ...

Doug, both my haynes and my chilton guide shows the coolant flows out of the engine through the water passage beneath the intake manifold, into the radiator through and out of the radiator thru the bottom hose and back into the waterpump via the thermostat housing. They can't both be wrong. I know i...

At 45 years old, I've been doing this for quite awhile, the radiator tank cracked due to 267,000 mi of various hard use. I've changed many thermostats on many different makes and never had a problem. This was the first time on a subaru. I Never make mistakes twice. I've had 4 Subaru's since '93 and ...

Yeah, I agree with Doug - the radiator didn't have anything to do with it unless it was defective. You should have had an eye on the temp gauge before it got that hot. The only bad design in this cooling system (which is usually very bulletproof and far better than most) is a consequence of the eng...

Alum, radiator

Did you burp it first? IMO the radiator had nothing to do with the failure. The thermostat gets its heat from the block, not the water coming through the radiator. Think about it, stock or not stock radiator, the water coming out of the radiator is ALWAYS cool. The coolent coming OUT OF THE RADIATO...

I didn't see this anywhere else, so I'll get on with the details. I cracked a radiator tank last week in Redmond at the Subiclub meet. I JB puttied it and it got me back to Mount Vernon. I ordered up a new Koyo aluminum radiator for the legacy SS since the old one was toast. Here's the bad part... :...

looking for pic's of '91-'94 turbo legacies with WRX scoops

I hope this is the correct forum for this. I'm getting ready to swap my slanty i/c out for an '04 WRX i/c and scoop. I'd like to see who all has installed one of these scoops, (preferrably '04-'05 as that's what I've got) on their car. Since the scoops were originally recessed into the surfac...

well, I just read the two cheap fcd sticky posts in the turbo forum, (there's a lot of pages there :D) now that I have a better understanding of the situation, it does sound like fuel cut issues. So, it looks like there is an fcd in my future.

well, it looks like the fcd that chris was building/selling is based on the vrg3 unit but with a potentiometer for adjusting the boost cut threshold pressure. If it's still for sale, I'll take one. :D
