Is stored in garage rafters, so no photo avail yet. Only reason removed was found a car at the U-Pull-It yard same color with folding seat, and converted my L to folding seat. This seat can make your car faster! Why? If your Legacy has a folding back seat, the back is heavy, as it needs to be to sup...

I was getting those same 3 codes on my '93 stock N/A, that ran fine except for intermittent no-start. Could they indicate some other problem like a bad ECU? Codes persisted even after battery disconnect, then right after checking codes the CEL would blink constantly. BTW I took the car to a Subaru s...

The ECU's never supposed to blink the check engine light unless it's in test mode, read mode, or clear mode. The way these two connectors work is that one end is connected to the ECU and the other end is connected to ground. Is it possible that one end of one of those connectors is touching somethi...

Went for a half hour drive with full range of speed and throttle position, the CEL flashes continuously. The POWER light that normally goes on at wide open throttle doesnt light. There has to be another means of resetting the ECU that I have overlooked. Does it require reprogramming with Subaru Sele...

Used the relearn procedure of starting and idling 10-15 minutes without touching the gas pedal. Havent driven too many miles since. I wonder how many miles of driving or cycles from cold to operating temperature are necessary for the ECU to relearn the settings.

Been thru the resets in http://www.surrealmirage.com/subaru/engine.html At this point the check engine light should start to flash the all clear signal (steady 1/2 second interval flashes). At this point the ECU's memory is cleared I would assume the all clear signal is supposed to go away on its o...

Blinking CHECK ENGINE light after reading codes

After connecting connectors under the dash to read codes, the CEL blinks on & off continuously while running & driving. Both connectors are disconnected. Have tried to reset the ECU by disconnecting negative from battery overnight, starting & idling 15 mins without touching accelerator, ...

Ya know, out here on the west coast we replace running gear and "upgrade" sheetmetal. Normaly don't have to worry about the rust out that ya'all back east do. :-D No rock salt used where it snows? When sheet metal is blasted for years by rock salt, stones, and water, eventually the corros...

BTW the car was hit before I bought it. Just looked like a bit of scraped paint on the outside of the flexible bumper cover. Invisible underneath the plastic cover and mudguard, the quarter panel's lower corner at the bottom of the wheel arch was crushed and rusted.

Ready for metal replacement. Bare metal is whitish grey after being sprayed with POR-15 Metal Ready which eats the surface and leaves a film of zinc. Have a sheet of automotive sheet metal, and one of each of the 3/4" x 3/4" and 3/4" x 3" as shown here: http://www.rustrepair.com/...

Have the rusty metal cut out, about 1-2" around the back half of the wheel arch. Now will have to cut and form a replacement. Never worked sheet metal so forming the wheel well section with flange will be a real challenge.

BC N/A Legacy vs 2007 Impreza 2.5i

The 2007 comes equipped with a payment but you get a batch of new parts pre-assembled in Gunma. Test drove one, nice but taking the payment into account wasnt overwhelmingly superior to my '93 with 200K miles. Unfortunately the test drive didnt include off-road.

New panel bonding adhesives for sheet metal replacement

Bondo is a temporary fix for rustouts, ideally the rusted metal should be cut out and good metal welded in. Unfortunately not everyone has welding equipment in their garage. Special 2-part adhesives have been developed recently for attaching non-structural panels including quarter panels, door skins...
