hiya vgr3, Yeah, I'm a grad student here (biologist). Small world, hey?!! Goes to show how much Ithaca is a Subaru town. Reed switch would work great but it seemed like time to failure could be an issue going through so many cycles per mile... though maybe this is how the stock Legacy VSS is done? W...

Thanks for the help guys! I have had such good experiences owning Subarus that I use a 92 EJ22 motor in my VW camper (not a rare conversion). Seems the Subie engine computer wants to see some kind of VSS signal or it stalls after any kind of engine braking though... thus the question... I had jury-r...

vehicle speed sensor question - 1992 NA EJ22
hello, Anybody know WHAT VOLTAGE the ECU puts on the vehicle speed sensor in a 1992 Legacy? 5v? 12v? My understanding is the computer applies a voltage to the speed sensor and expects to see a pulsed ground, 4 pulses per wheel revolution... correct me if I'm wrong though. thanks much, Robert Harris ...
