The engine did not suffer from the fire, only headers were in flames. Not quiet sure what happened to the oil pump and why all that oil ended up on the exhaust. I was driving on the highway when I lost most of the power and 30 seconds later there was a smoke cover behind my car. :-D It lost about 2-...

Engine swap on a 94 Legacy
I need to get a new engine for my 94 Legacy. The old one caught on fire last weekend... I need to bring the car back to live ASAP. What is easier to do: 1) to make a hybrid engine with 2.5 short block and 2.2 heads, or 2) to put the entire 2.5 engine in this car? I have a very limited budget at the ...

WTB: 90-94 white Legacy wagon, running or not
I am looking for another Legacy just like mine to build a project car. It has to be a white wagon with blue interior. Engine and tranny don't have to be included since I am building a new powertrain anyway. I'm not sure how much of the difference there is between 90-92 and 93-94 year models. If I ca...

Can anyone recommend a good place to order high compression pistons, valves, timing belt, rods, bearings, and all other good stuff to build the 2.5 NA engine? Places like cobbtuning and xcceleration seem to be a little expensive, plus they no longer list much of the internal engine parts for NA engi...

How can you get such a bad mpg? I had 29 in the city and 32 highway at 80mph. The best I ever got was 40mpg at 45mph on the interstate. ;-) That was before I installed complete aftermarkert exaust and before the engine started burning oil. Now I get 25/29 mpg with visible smoke from the tail pipe. E...

All righty then. So far I've decided to get an EJ25 with stande along ECU, PnP heads and intake manifold, upgraded cams and valvetrain. I guess with increased displacement and torque I can change dif. ratios... Is it possible to combine 3.7 gears with viscous LSD togeter? What is the highest compres...

Well, as far as where I want the power I still haven't decided. All I want is to be able to stay in 1st gear as long as possible without having to shift. I need that for autocross. Peak power may be at 6000, but I still want to have red line at 7500-8000. I'm not looking for max power, I want torque...

206er Yeah, I've noticed that my rans out of power at high elevations, above 7000' it is reallly noticable. Oh well, it's NA... I couldn't find the flow chart on 2.2 and 2.5 heads. I remember that I've seen it on cobb's web site like a year a two ago... Matt Monson Thanks for the link. I've read fi...

So, how much better are the 2.5 heads comparing to 2.2 heads? If it's only 10hp, then I'll keep the old ones. What size valves can I use with 2.2 heads? Well, assuming that I get new valve springs and PnP done. I'd rather keep 2.2 heads after the idler pulley broke on me last fall. They saved the en...

Choosing an engine upgrade for a 94 Legacy. No turbos here.
I decided to modefy my engine to get more power out of it, but I can't deside what to do: 1) stay with 2.2 engine, get new cams, pnp heads, try to find higher compression pistons; 2) build a 2.5 engine with my current 2.2 heads, cams and heads done as well; 3) get a 2.5 Phase2 engine and work with i...

There are two marks on the crankshaft gear. Do both camshafts line up with each other? The marks should all be straight up. You may want to search as this has been gone over pretty extensively, and you may even find pics. Nope, they don't line up. Cams are about 80 degrees off from each other. Both...

OK. Timing is the problem as far as I can see. I took both timing blet covers off and the first thing I saw was some kind of a smashed and bent metal o-ring that fell out from the covers. That can't be good. Then I tried to align all timing marks. The marks on the camshafts and the belt are ...

Got fuel pressure, got spark, but it doesn't start
Today my car suddenly died on the road. I was driving 45mph and lost all power. I checked fuel pressure by disconnecting fuel line. It sprays fuel 30 feet in the air, so it should have enough pressure. I pulled two spark plugs, they both fireing just fine. I also tried to reset the ECU, but nothing ...
