FREE rear seats from 91 Turbo Legacy. Portland, OR ray 2 ton

Just like it says, I have the back seats out of my 91 SS that are in great condition. I swapped in WRX seats so these need to vacate the premises. No way I'm shipping these. Just come to 97113 and pick them up.

Re: Heater Core replacement??? Straight forward???

The leak was where the core tubes meet the cans. For a temporary solution, I plumbed the leaking heater core into the intercooler plumbing. It blows just warm enough to defog my windshield. Intake temps are WAY down now though! haha! The intercooler plumbing is pretty much at 0psi so no leak. I'm us...

Re: Heater Core replacement??? Straight forward???

I think I'll bypass the heater core and pressure test the core in-place. I will pressure test the one I pulled out a few months ago before tearing my dash apart again. The problem went away with the replacement so I'm pretty sure the core is cracked. I can't help but wonder if my coolant system was ...

AAARRR! NOT AGAIN!!!

Now the replacement heater core is leaking! This is not a job I wanted to do twice! Does anyone know what could be causing this? Both times, there was no liquid dripping inside the car or outside. It just smells like antifreeze when I turn the heater lever to the red side. The windshield also steams...

Re: TCU - Transmission Control Unit, interchangability??? 4E

Update: It turns out that I was hitting the rev limiter on the ECM with the N/A TCU. The injector duty cycle went to 3% over 6400 rpms, that's not good. I put the turbo TCU back in and my AFR's are stable but the shifts are LAZY! Too bad, I wish I could up the rev limiter on the ECM so I can put the...

Re: PIGGYBACK ratings???

Finally got the FIC tuned and running pretty well. 2 thumbs up for the AEM FIC!

I ran a 14.40 last night without the NOS, not too bad. (14psi) Just need some more fuel on the top end and adjust the H2O injection.

Re: PIGGYBACK ratings???

My AEM wideband shows 2 full points richer than the a/f gauge on the software. I'm not sure which to believe. I adjusted the response time from 486 to 600uS and that didn't seem to help. The engine won't even run with the table set to "change injector size" from 370 to 550. I actually have...

Re: PIGGYBACK ratings???

Update, It looks as though the n/a TCU is giving me higher shift points and the ECM is pulling injector duty cycle to 3% as a rev limiter. I think the ECM rev limiter is set to 6400 RPM because the duty cycle go down right after the highest RPM reading. I would rather try to increase or eliminate th...

Re: TCU - Transmission Control Unit, interchangability??? 4E

I installed the NA TCU in place of the Turbo unit and the upshifts seem to be firmer. There is a moment during the shift where the AFR's go into the 16's though. I'm not sure if the TCU has anything to do with it. I'm leaving the N/A unit in place.

Re: PIGGYBACK ratings???

AFR's were pretty stable at 13.5ish except for that second when the injector duty cycle went to 3%, the AFR jumped to 18ish. As far as timing, I haven't messed with the timing map so everything should still be at zero change. This FIC doesn't monitor intake temp but I think it's around 130F because ...

Re: PIGGYBACK ratings???

I have the FIC hooked up and here's a log of 2nd and 3rd gear WOT. There is a brief lean dip at the start of the gear change. This is before tuning begins. I think the FIC is already clamping my MAF though. AFR's don't peg rich anymore. Runs pretty strong until that lean dip, then a hard shift follo...

Oh yeah, I wouldn't be trying to run your tune on my car; just wanted to see some comparisons. I have the AEM wideband and I am planning on tuning it myself, slowly and cautiosly.

Re: TCU - Transmission Control Unit, interchangability??? 4E

If your that worried about 1/4 mile times you should be building the auto anyway. Ratchet shifter in a subie is awkwardly awesome. Well, the 4EAT will soon be replaced with a 5mt; I just was hoping to find a way to make it slam gears like my 93 n/a did. I have a spare turbo 4EAT sitting in the gara...

I just baught the AEM F/IC. Looks like a pretty easy thing to tune (software-wise).

I'll update as I get it going on the current setup.

The stock 4EAT is quivering :?

PIGGYBACK ratings???

Drag racing season is here and I would like to get my car running right. I was opting for the Revtronix chip but that sank. Now I'm looking at the PP6 or AEM fuel/ignition or whatever will work. Which is the easiest to get going and tune? $$$? Wiring is not a big issue since I used to wire helicopte...

Re: TCU - Transmission Control Unit, interchangability??? 4E

I'm familiar with the trans-go kit but they want an arm and leg for it and I don't want to dump any more cash into the 4eat when I am sourcing a 5mt. I was hoping someone knew something about the failure that my N/A model was having with hard upshifts. I would like to duplicate the "failure&quo...

Good alignment settings for aggressive daily driver / autoX?

I did a suspension upgrade a few months back that included: -2005 Legacy GT front struts -2004 Sti springs on all 4 corners -2004 STi rear struts -1997 Legacy GT front sway bar. (20mm) -1991 SS rear sway bar (19mm) -1997 Legacy GT 16" wheels with 205/55/16 -stock brakes The rear sits a little h...

TCU - Transmission Control Unit, interchangability??? 4EAT

So, I used to drive a 93 N/A legacy and now I drive a 91 SS. The N/A had a really hard upshift into second and sometimes 3rd. I know it was probably some kind of fault with the transmission or TCU. I liked it. The SS shifts like my grandmother and it's costing me about a second on the drag strip. Th...

Re: Getting ready to put a 4EAT from 1991 SS into a 1997 Leg

UPDATE- I checked that the TCU for the 91 and the 97 are indeed different. They are different sizes and don't mount the same. The car drives mostly in-town so I opted to keep the 4.11 stock gears. I pulled a tail seaction and clutch shaft from a wrecked 98 impreza. I ohmed out the solenoid and it ch...

Re: Chip for stock ECU!

Hmm, so I wonder which is worse on the stock ecm: current config- vf39 with stock 370cc injectors and stock MAF. or vf39 with 550cc injectors on the Jecs MAF. Currently it runs strong until I really put my foot in it and the injectors go static, then I get 10:1 afr's. Will it run worse with the late...
