Exhaust Rattle

My exhaust rattles at low RPM's. I have it diagnosed as one of the heat shields near the front of the car. Would it be hard to cut one of these off so my car doesn't rattle? And would it cause any sort of problem?

My car is at about 3 grand when I'm at 70 MPH. So, theoretically, I should be able to lay down the speedo at 6 grand. Unfortunately, there are no roads around here that are long enough to speed up and slow down safely.

Is yours all rusty? Mine is.

I've towed 600lb of tanbark in a trailer and a sailboat on separate occasions. My car handled it like there was nothing there :D.

My tongue weight max is 200 lbs so I think I could probably get away with towing a car.

I didn't take a picture but the paneling on the inside of the car on the driver's side cracked! I was really bummed. I think I'm going to have to figure out some way to glue it.

'91 Legacy gallery

I set up a album on photobucket for my Legacy. It's stock in all major areas of the engine. http://photobucket.com/albums/a339/Planarian98/Car/ It's a '91 L AWD. Fun in the snow..let me tell you. However, over the years, the snow and salt has been brutal (you can see the extent of the damage in the...

Has anyone else's hood done like mine has?

It's rather awful looking.

well the car hasnt tuned off when I am driving, thank god, but it still acts up. It will drive great, then I park and the idle goes weird and slowly drops to 0, but I have had no problem turning it back on, but then it repeats, idle drops slowly down to 0, I have to give it gas or turn the a/c on t...

Umm..use a magnet? If the bolt isn't aluminum, you should be able to get it out of there.

AWD + Body Kit = no. The whole point of the Legacy is to go in the snow. You can't go in the snow when you're dragging bottom with your stupid body kit. That's why our Legacies sit higher off the ground then normal cars (well, some of them. Most of them are sagging so badly from their old struts th...

Are your back brakes drum brakes? If so, that's rather odd for a Subaru. My '91 has Solid/Vented Disc.

Re: 4EAT no power mode?

I have that problem sometimes too. Have you changed your filter and fluid every 30k? I don't know if the filter was changed, and I know that the fluid hasn't been out for a while. I would do that, except that it's random. Sometimes the shifts are rocky, other times they aren't. If it were a fluid o...

Random Engine Cut

Every so often, when I'm getting ready to pull out at an intersection or am driving in a parking lot, my engine just cuts. I'd say it only happens about once a week or 2 but I thought maybe there is a bigger underlying problem? It only happens at really low idle, not on the street or going down the...

4EAT no power mode?

Tristan and I were discussing my '91's AT. I said it has a power mode, he said it doesn't. I'm going to quote my owner's manual and we can discuss this. Vehicles with an electronically controlled fully-automatic transmission automatically choose one of the two drive modes when the selector is in &q...
