The pump itself doesn't seem like too bad of a job. Keeping it clean while in place looks to be the hard part.

Keep the heatshield on there and I think all should be ok.

I've got about 10k like that. A few wires are brittle, but prolly from age and not from lack of a hood.

I PMed back. I'm gonna try not to sound like I'm swinging the SearchBat here. :P This is my first Subaru build. As such I'm gonna be prone to mistakes and mis-information. There are many others that have gone before me. Anything I can tell you I prolly found out here, as this is where I found it to ...

Nothing new yet. Machine shop currently has the crank and the rods. Crank is very close as to if it can be cleaned up without welding the jounal. A new crank is only about $280 so I'm thinking about going that route. My pistons are about 2 thousands too small for the bores in my cases. I'm currently...

My thought process was the exact same as yours. Much easier. Another pointer...you don't have to pull the needles. Remove every screw from the back of your cluster. Keep them in order, there are a few diffent kinds/lengths. Undo the clips but don't remove the cover yet. Let is sit on the "glass...

USDM turbo wiring Vs. everything else

On the USDM turbos, post-facelift (maybe 91s also?) there are 3 connectors to the engine. On non-turbos models there are only 2 connectors. The third connector is only grounds. Any grounds have been removed from the other 2 connectors and placed in the third connector. This makes the USDM turbo inta...

I'll add that the auto cluster is a '93 and the manual cluster is supposed to be a '93 also. Both are post-facelift in either case. Pre-facelift might be slightly different. I know the clusters on pre-facelifts are slightly different in arraingement, but not sure if that is just cosmetic or somethin...

From my diagrams...no it is not the same. If you look at the PC boards they are not the same, the pathing doesn't really even look similier to me. That is why I chose to install the Auto unit in my manual cluster. The manual cluster will go in the car, but the center display will be my original auto...

According to my diagrams the pinouts are different between the two. I opened the cluster and took the center indicators (the PRND321 and the "car icon") from the auto cluster and placed it into the manual cluster. This should keep the pinouts the same. The manual cluster will cover the PRN...

ECU trans ID pin

I seem to remember reading a thread about the wiring diagrams being wrong for some models/years. I couldn't come up with anything in a search however. In the diagram I am using it shows the ID pin grounded for a manual trans. My auto SS already has this pin grounded. I'm assuming that everything sho...

Yet Another Five Speed Swap Due to some interferance between the steering column support and the clutch pedal assembly I ended up pulling the dash. The interferance is taken care of now, but I figure as long as the dash is out I'm gonna add the 3rd and 4th igition channel wires. I also figured it wo...

From my days with Mitsu products... Changing to the roller rockers (without changing cams) will change both cam profile and timing. Even though the point of contact may be in the same exact location, the way a roller moves comapred to a "slipper" changes both. Something about angular vecto...

Variable ratio power steering... A sliver of info. My EJ20G came with what appears to be a variable assist PS pump. It is a Legacy EJ20G as it has a black AWIC. Another interesting thing is that it has no canister purge solinoid. Did the RS-Rs come in Automatics? Did other models come with the vari...
