At a sanctioned event you pretty much only have to worry about yourself and your car. Unless you do something grossly negligent. If you need insurance to cover your car if you wreck it, race something else. Rude, but simply the truth. As far as health/hospitalization. No idea, never thought about it...

EJ20G coils
The Legacy heads and WRX heads apparently use different coils. I grabbed a set of SVX coils and ignitor as spares in case my EJ20G had a dead coil or two. The SVX coils do not fit on a Legacy EJ20G. Supposedly the SVX coils do fit the WRX EJ20Gs. Can the SVX coils be made to fit by changing to the W...

Pull style is from pre-05(?) turbos. For the USA this means Legacy SS, WRX, Baja turbo and Forester Turbo. I beleive that the NEW Legacy turbos have the new style clutch. All are hydraulic. Not to familier with the push style, but I know that they can be had in both cable and hydraulic. If the slave...

If you were to make a B.R.A.T.
I've had a few lucky scores at the Junkyards lately. It has come to my attention that if I'm gonna keep this up, I'm gonna need a truck. A Baja would be cool, but that would put me back behind a few years of payments. Actual Brats are rare in the Junkyards for spare parts to restore it and they won'...

Man, I used to drool over the T-Rex. Now I'm all about the Arial Atom. That thing is just about perfect, other than the price. Once I get the SS to where I want it (soon hopefully) I'm gonna build a locost (Lotus 7 clone) with spare parts I have laying around the garage. Mostly Miata suspension with...

I think for that setup, I would let the EJ22t ECU fire the stock EJ22 ignitor. I would then let each channel of the ignitor fire 2 WRX coils. The only problem I can see is that you might need a diode between the ignitor and each coil to keep them from backfeeding each other. As far as missing spark,...

While I can appreciate the effort and engineering that went into those Cobras, I am still left wondering....Why? :? That much power is not, has not and will never be usable or even enjoyable on the street. Now if we are talking chest pounding and bragging rights.... But, then again, I've a...

I think I found a possible answer to the build-up behind the valves. Only 2-3 HLAs have thier full range of motion. Most only have a fraction of the full range before they stop compressing. Another 3 are completely stuck fully extended. This means that at least 3 of the valves were not closing all t...

I found a few more anomalies I wanted to point out and see if anybody knows about them. First my EJ20G has no purge solenoid. The harness has no connector for one either. There is a pipe under the manifold that goes straight from the throttlebody nipple to the charcoal canister. http://img413.images...

Re: Ecus and what am I missing?
Or, as I just thought about, are they running piggybacks and just not fessing up to it?PhyrraM wrote: Does everyone that tries to run an EJ20G either settle for a subpar (in the US) high octane tune? Or get a full standalone? It seems like piggybacks such as AFCs and ITCs are frowned upon for some reason.

Ecus and what am I missing?
As some of you have read, I am planning an EJ20G swap. SO, of course, I've been trying to do my research. What I cannot seem to get my head around is available gas and octane. Some of the more common themes that appear (on many boards) are Z4 ecus and chips (such as the VOS chip). Many people who at...
