If it's just a loop of tubing, then I would just as soon run a real cooler or no cooler. I didn't realize it when I first posted, but I need to use my SS lines anyways, as the ends that go to the rack on the EJ20G have been cut when the engine was removed. If I wanted to utilize the cooler lines I w...

EJ20G refresh thread, was "A few EJ20G questions"

I recieved my EJ20G from FranticFour this week. The milage tag says 78,331 Kilometers. http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/4933/milageir3.th.jpg Seems in OK condition. I started the teardown to do some minor wiring and cleaning. I noticed that the power steering lines were cut coming out over the fro...

Not too bad. Could have been worse. Subaru has always had pretty bland styling. '89-'94 Legacies might as well be an Accord/Stanza/Camry for the same years. The orginal '93 Impreza was kinda plain till we got the 2.5 RS. Actually it seems that most Japanese manufactures seem unwilling to take the sa...

'92 Touring wagon, SoCal

http://sandiego.craigslist.org/car/299697273.html

Not mine, no relation.

When I emailed the seller he seemed very interested in getting rid of it fast. Prolly would go really low for a cash offer. He said it needs to be towed as it overheats really quickly.

Would be mine, but the wife would freak.

Forged shortblock, on the cheap

After almost a year of patiently collecting bargains I am ready to assembly My Motor. http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/3930/shortblockupgradekitdd0.th.jpg All of it used. And all of it at a good price. 2 cranks because I aquired a phase 1 crank, but found phase 2 rods first. http://img249.imagesha...

A straight WRX trans swap will require a 3.54 rear diff. The WRX has a 1.1:1 transfercase that our cars do not have.

Actually, I think it's a "locost". Basically a homebuilt.

Looks to me like a regular "H" pattern on the shifting, just really well executed.

Looks cool, but I need a tad more speed and a bit less memorization. Car control is excellent though.

About to install a WRX wagon Suspension

I've got one thing I'm hoping can get answered. I've read the stickies and think I've got it figured out, but want a touch of re-assuance. http://img264.imageshack.us/img264/3609/img0267zi9.th.jpg This is what I've got for the rear. Pretty sure that 2.5 rods are the longest ones. The piston pin location is raised closer to the crown to compensate.

A 2.5 piston has the pin almost in the oil control ring if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah from Kevin/Mr.Soul/FranticFour. As a indutrial mechanic/troubleshooter by trade, I also prefer the "baby steps and working out the bugs at each stop" method. As luck would have it I also scored some '05 WRX bronze rims, both Whiteline bars and a set of V7 STI wagon struts. Those, alon...

Decided on this:

For our own Parts Shed.
Gonna run it as a 2.0 at first.

Will build my original EJ22T block into a 2.35 then install the EG20G heads on it.

Thanks for all your input.

There might not neccisarily be more damage if a good machinist gets ahold of it. I have had frozen bolts milled out in such a way that the original block threads are not touched. If the mill is centered correctly then you can bore down and take out the main shaft of the bolt. After that the threads ...

My reason for wanting a 2.2 or 2.35 is for the added torque. Not really the added strength. It is going to be a daily driver and my power goals are modest. I don't plan on doing a 4.11 or 4.44 right away so the added displacement will help with everyday drivability, AKA fun. I already have 2 closed ...
