See? That's half the fun- you paid less than some sucker who runs directly to the dealer without checking other prices first!

I just ordered 3 sets of headgaskets from subarugenineparts - saved a lot more than I would have if I went to the dealer in town.

Go get your alternator tested at an autoparts store for free. Autozone and Advance Auto parts both check.

If not that, then there's a short in the wires somewhere that's killing the battery.

Just get the alternator tested first.

Never add up how much you've spent - just enjoy the savings you've made by purchasing parts at a discounted rate...

I justified half the purchases on my car due to the simple fact that I paid half price on ebay :-P

Re: Trouble with TD04 and 06 TMIC install

1. Steam from the up-pipe. When my friend removed one of the coolant lines from the turbo, he left it on the edge of the up-pipe. We both thought that we caught the mistake fairly quickly, but from the amount of steam coming from the up-pipe it seems that a decent amount of coolant managed to find ...

I know that you'd need to install some sort of resistor for the first O2 sensor (it detects 'catalytic coverter efficiency') and there's also a stock EGT sensor in the UP. Both the O2 and EGT sensor can be addressed with the use of resisitors. Additionally, you could just get an accessport and it w...

I've made some progress - IAT is installed in the intercooler end tank, and I've given up on the TPS for now and will just run with the MAP based acceleration just to start tuning until the snow flies. Still haven't nailed the values for the coolant temp sensor, but it's definitely close. Current is...

Nice! Glad to hear it all worked out. I've had issues with the self shutoff control as well. Instead of removing the main relay, just wire in a switch on the self shutoff wire. Turn the switch on, and you'll be able to start the car. Turn the switch off and it'll shut off. If you figure out how to f...

I can validate all the info posted citing the FSM, except for the FWD only TCS. Not sure about that part. Subaru offered FWD until 96.

From examining the FSM, the old TSC/VDC system doesn't seem half bad. YAW and steering position sensor included!

2 suggestions I'll offer up - 1. Have you tried running the car in D-check mode? If so, does the scenario remain the same? 2. Have you hooked up a scan tool to the ECU to verify the signals that it's receiving? The TPS is just a silly little 5V sensor that goes down to just about 0V with the pedal t...

No. I meant that the linkage or shift rod was frozen up due to excess corrosion. If there's problems with the gears internally, gear oil isn't going to fix things. Before you installed the trans, did you try and turn the input shaft by hand? Was there any gear oil in the transmission when you got it?

Is this a never used by you/ new to you transmission?

Bad shift fork possibly? Has it been sitting for a while - maybe it froze up?

My initial guess is there's something wrong with the transmission internally.

The diode issue relates to not getting 12v at the injectors - he's good there.

I think there's some problem between the way the new style integrated coil/ignitor is wired vs. the old style.

I don't think it did - IIRC the redesign was in 95 or 96. 98 saw the plug changeover to a 2 plug connector (with only one actually utilized).

Loose flywheel/ pressure plate bolts? Did you torque them all to spec?

IIRC 52ftlb for the flywheel, 12ftlb for the pressure plate.
