Depends on how much labor is going to be...the more complicated the engine is going to be, the cheaper i'm willing to pay. If that makes sense. A turbo engine will run me much more in labor and extra stuff like engine hood, intercooler, tranny, etc. So unless the engine is a steal (say 2k or less), ...

Ok, so what's the drawback to using an EJ20T or an EJ25 DOHC from a 98/99 legacy? I'm sure both draw out more power than the engine i'm using currently, and lets face it....there's more mods out there for the earlier years than for the 2000-2004 models, which seem to be the bastard child generation ...

Would like to engine swap, need ideas from you gearheads...
I have a 2000 Legacy GT with an EJ25. Long story short, I blew the engine last year, and replaced the block with one I got off of a DOHC japanese engine...runs fine. Except that it replaced the bearings, but my heads are still blown. Rumor has it, it would be just as much money to replace the heads ...

I don't think you understood the post... Those items i'm selling. I don't need need anything; the shortblock is all I required to get my 2000 back on the road, so the rest of the engine is up for grabs...aside from the water pump and timing belt, which were already destroyed when I bought the engine...

Cylinder Heads, turbo downpipe
Scrapped the '97 EJ25 DOHC japanese engine I bought since I only needed the shortblock... 2 Cylinder Heads (Hydraulic)...make reasonable offer ($150-250 range would be nice) Header turbo downpipe (i think)...my mechanic was talking too fast about it so if you're interested i'll have to send you a pi...

The picture snowjob put up is exactly what it looks like. As for my mechanic Matt, please understand that he hasn't touched my, much less looked at, my engine since May, so there were quite a few things that he had forgotten. When I mentioned what vg3 had said regarding what we can do to fix the pro...

Just called my mechanic, explained everything you told me, vrg3, and he sighed a breath of relief and said it should fit then, so I guess I'll start the swap next week. I appreciate your help cuz this was stressing me out to the point of just giving up and scrapping my car. I haven't driven my car i...

I don't know what you mean in regards to the belt housing, but since it's a japanese engine, it's different than mine, and as a result, my mechanic needs to know if mine can come off and fit onto the japanese engine. Otherwise I have to buy an entirely different housing + transmission in order for t...

Needed to buy an engine, now I get to sell it, YAY (EJ25D)
Needless to say I'm...pissed. Long story short, needed an EJ25 SOHC for my 2000 GT, lots of people told me the EJ25 DOHC block would fit, so I bought one out of Miami for $400 + $280 shipping. What a deal! So I get my engine, take it to my mechanic...and it's BS from the start. My car has 6 bolt hou...

Ok, so now that we're all buddies again, I hate to be repetetive If I am, but I really do want to make this right... I have conflicting stories from 3 (!) different subaru mechanics. One says the DOHC engine (late 90's to 00) will fit directly into my car, but they're crap because the pistons go... ...

The problem with a few of the websites you posted, Matt, is that they're either way too expensive, or they don't have my engine. CCR Engines wants 8k for the engine + install? I don't want to wait a year before getting my engine up and running ;). I'm probably going to be stuck saving up about 600-1...

Suba, I just PM'd you. You now know how to contact me. By the time you do, i'll know whether or not my engine is single or dual port, but since the engine code matches, I doubt it'll matter. As for anyone else complaining about the timing belt; Whatever broke, if in fact anything did, regarding the ...

I would be interested in the twin cam EJ20, but I need to know how easy it is to install into my 2000 Legacy. I've talked to 3 Subaru Advisor Mechanics and all 3 said something different, from the intake manifold's being different (they're wider than mine), to don't buy the DOHC because they suck, t...
