Thanks. I probablly have the skills to pull the transmission off, but is the seperation of the transmission/differential and replacing these seals a reasonable task for a motivated amateur? Are there any particular write ups beyond my Haynes manual that you can recommend that detail the process for ...

tranny fluid leaking into differential and out the driveaxle

Hi all, I have a 92 Legacy L FWD that has developed a pretty decent transmission fluid leak. But inspection reveals that the leak is coming from where the left front driveaxle fits into the differential. It started when I noticed small puddles of what looked like an oil/tranny fluid mix. I noticed t...

tranny/torque converter diagnosis

Hi all, I have a 92 Legacy L 2WD with an automatic transmission. Pretty well maintained and no major problems until recently. A few days ago I had to slam on the brakes. After stopping, I couldn't get the transmission to re-engage. Forward was not an option until after I drove in reverse for a bit. ...

I'll post an update later, but would always appreciate sage advice in the meanwhile, especially the sort of advice regarding how much this thing will cost ...

Thanks Splinter. I reset the ECU/TCU and all of the codes but one disappeared. It looks like the "canister purge solenoid valve" is the cuplrit (There aren't and have never been any TCU codes) I have no idea what this item is, but it gives me a direction to start in. In your experience can...

Advice needed for major problem on my 92 Legacy L

So I've been driving and loving my 92 2WD Legacy L for about 7 years now, and have just encountered the first major problem (other than the usuals...) The other day I had to really slam on the brakes to avoid an accident. After this, the transmission wouldnt re-engage until I put it in reverse, and ...
