If I was actually an extremist, then yeah, I might already have been doing what you just suggested. Luckily I'm not. There are plenty of ways to maintain our standard of living while using a bit or a lot less in the way of resources. We can drive smaller, more fuel-efficient cars; build better publi...

The theory about anthropomorphic warming doesn't hold in the face of temps being as warm now as they were in the late 1200s. Very few people around then and no cars. Pollution then in towns was severe with open sewers, tanneries, and slaughter houses all doing a number on the quality of life. Nor d...

Splinter is absolutely right though. There are a LOT worse things out there than automobiles. His facts about 95% of greenhouse gases being emitted from natural sources is also correct (and plays into my ideas about global warming). The Earth's temperature is maintained by that 95% -- so if there i...

You can argue logic and such till you're blue in the face, but that doesn't mean you're scientifically correct. Science Magazine recently did a study of the abstracts of 928 scientific studies that related to climate change. Their findings -- not one tried to refute that humans are contributing to g...

The manual seatbelts swap over. You will need to get trim pieces from a Canadian BC if you don't want it to look semi-ghetto though.

+1. My car's cruise is weird. It will go on and then click off after a couple of seconds -- I have to toggle the button on the dash to get it to engage again. After several tries I can get it to engage for a little while, but it usually clicks off between 5 and 30 minutes later. How does the cruise ...

I drove from Baltimore to Salt Lake City in January, much of it on I-80. Weather was okay -- the only real snow accumulation was right before Salt Lake City. I'd say fatigue on the second day of driving (Davenport, IA to SLC in one day -- that's 17 hours of driving) was more dangerous than the snow.

I had the aux jack on my OEM radio. Nice and staticky. I got an Alpine iPod headunit and never looked back. Even when my iPod broke and I was iPod-less for a couple months, I just burned a couple MP3 CDs and still had plenty of music. My advice is not to bother with the stock radio... yes, it is fai...

Why does my clutch pedal spring keep coming off?

My clutch pedal spring came off about April and was annoying as hell to put back on. Went home for Thanksgiving and it had come off again (probably while my brother was driving the car). I haven't put it back on yet, but how can I get it to stay? If at all possible I don't want to have to do this ev...

Hey Vikash, which one is easier from the POV of a clutch job -- dropping the transmission, or sliding the engine forward? Especially which one is easier if I don't have a hoist? I will also be replacing my left CV axle, so axle removal will be only half as inconvenient as usual. (Yes, back from the ...

Wow, you did an engine swap without a torque wrench? I'm impressed, I guess. But it's important to follow torque specs religiously so that you don't break something and so that nothing falls off while you're driving. A torque wrench was the first tool I ever bought, along with a 7-piece deep socket ...

Image verification does not stop spam at all. We have image verification on the site I'm a mod on and still get plenty of spam -- but about 75-90% of it is caught by SpamBuster so it's not a huge issue to the end user. The only bad thing about SpamBuster is it does flag a number of legitimate messag...

How are you going to set up the nitrous system? Some kid at the high school I graduated from said you can't have direct port with forced induction and you have to have an in-intercooler spray. Is he talking through his hat or is there something to that?

You will have to take the door panel off as one of the screws is under it. There's a screw at the top of the handle under a foam piece, a screw under the armrest under a plastic pop-off, and three screws around the speaker grille. Then pop it off from the bottom. FYI, use a C-clamp to clamp the guss...

I guess I should elaborate on why I love G20s. 1. Handling. 100 times better than my Legacy. It was named one of the 10 best-handling cars in the world by some British magazine. 2. Shifter and clutch are great, even though it's a cable clutch on the P10. 3. 7500 RPM redline ahoy! 4. Did I mention th...

One thing though. Every once in a while a light in my gauge cluster pops on when I hit the brakes that says "stop lamp". But then it will stop doing it. When it did this I had my friend get out while I held the pedal in and the lights work fine. So I'm confused. What does that mean? Check...

You should be able to figure out the part number using the dealer system pretty easily. Just make sure you get the 1.5 DIN (3") and not the 1 DIN (2") pocket. Cost is $50 and it's a special order item.

It already had 70,000 after the first year. If my dad had kept the same job he had that year, he would have put at least 350k on the car if we still had it.
