Actually, the 2001 Subarus in general got cursed with bad O2 sensors, and the dealer replaced at least one of them a couple of times under warranty when the car was newer. So the O2s don't surprise me at all. And on NASIOC I'm seeing a lot of people with cars (Imprezas, Legacies, and Foresters) of a...

I feel a little better about the bill because my mom neglected to tell me that both O2 sensors needed to be replaced as well. Labor is quoted as "only" $261.36.

and the newer cars dont respond well to aftermarket cats.. they still have a tendency to turn the cel on. we just had a customer in the shop today who has exactly that problem. he replaced the cats himself with aftermarket cats and what do you know, cel is still on :-) Crap, really? Because that wa...

Mechanics are a ripoff.

My dad's 2001 Forester needs the cats replaced. My mom took it to the mechanic who quoted her $1200-1300. He said it would have been more but he managed to find a cat setup for $600, and it should have been $1200. Priced out a kit with the front and rear cats online and it was $275. $...

I just haven't been around for two reasons: 1. I'm up at school and don't have my car here 2. I've been concentrating on fixing my G20 and thus have been on G20.net a lot more This forum is still excellent, and although I really like my G20 and think G20.net is pretty good, I feel like people are no...

I don't know how to change my turn signal bulb... I'm sure I could figure it out if I needed to, but I've never had occasion to do it. Heck, I've swapped out an engine in my Infiniti, but I've never had to change a bulb on any car so I don't know how.

Well then don't buy a car that's across the country from you unless you can deal with the substantial risks or you know the person who is selling it.

I think the point is that most people treat Carfax as the last word, and that they are far from that and you should investigate a car very carefully before buying it. Sounds like common sense but a lot of people will say, "Oh, yeah, clean Carfax, I'll get it sight unseen" and then will hav...

Okay, I already fixed this problem on my car. I tried the foam and it didn't make any difference whatsoever. What did work was taking off the mirror and the triangle piece and tightly clamping the gusset with a C-clamp in a couple of places for a short time (a minute should be more than enough). I f...

I hate to say it, but the Mazdaspeed3 is itself going to become a favorite of the crooked-hatters. Large amounts of performance plus a cheap buy-in price equals lots of ricers.

Engine Swap/Winestone L

I'm swapping a new engine into my Infiniti G20. It threw a rod in April. It has 170k on it but the "new" engine only has 40k. The car as it sits. We’re doing the work in my grandfather’s garage. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a325/thefultonhow/Infiniti/PICT1656Large.jpg Another view. We...
