Re: Died middle of highway, no spark/etc...
One hint - if you have the same symptoms as me - which means no CEL at all, try to find wire/s at ECU perhaps. I mean, check all grounds and all live power going to ECU. Then try to deliver ECU all things it needs - using for example needle with power or ground supply. There can be about 8-12 wires ...

Re: Died middle of highway, no spark/etc...
Alex, are your symptoms still the same as earlier? No CEL? Any relays clicking?
Did you try to replace your ECU? At least for a few days?

Re: Intermittent stalling, idling/driving: possible ECU prob
Yup, I've seen your story. I am still not sure if it is not my case. About year ago I had changed battery and everything was fine for another 6 months. Then car became undrivable. Now I changed ECU beacuse I ran out of options.
Does my case look familiar to you? I mean lack of CEL and so?

Yes it is.
We replaced once again KS for the third one. 10 miles today and no CEL. Still imprezza stuff.

Re: Knock sensor again - intermittent 22 error.
KS from imprezza unfortunately. No way to find original.
And another important notice - KS plugged but hanging freely - not mounted to the block - rough engine work but no CEL.

Re: Died middle of highway, no spark/etc...
For me it ended up with ECU replacement. I am not a true believer of fried ECUs theories so it could be a helpful hint if it's going to happen again with my new ECU.

Knock sensor again - intermittent 22 error.
I know there's another fresh thread about the same device, but my problem looks different. CEL, 22, 2 other knock sensor - used but checked - plugged, still the same. KS rewired - no change. Harness checked. CEL show up usually when engine is hot and almost always above 3000 rpm. Sometimes it goes a...

Re: Intermittent stalling, idling/driving: possible ECU prob
It ends up with ECU replacement. Other possibilities just have been excluded. Will report in a few months to confirm.

Re: ECU interchangeability?
It works. And I hope this will end my problems with intermittent stalling. Few hundred kilometer more and it never stopped so I guess it could be some fatal error in electronic guts, although I am aware it happens extremely rarely.

Re: ECU interchangeability?
Just bought it on ebay for 15 quids. Hope it'll work - whether it's from LHD or RHD.
Josh, looks like ECU is shot - every other possibility is excluded, I guess.

ECU interchangeability?
Hi all.
Anyone could tell if 22611AB010 is the same as 22611AB000?
I suppose my ECU must be shot.

Re: Intermittent stalling, idling/driving: possible ECU prob
Nothing :( Completely nothing. He couldn't recreate the problem. I think I'm on my own again. Yes, I've found ECU grounding point. Truth is it is extremely hard to get to but now I don't think that's my problem. In the beginning I was sure that no 1 is the culprit - no matter if I was wiggling wires...

Re: Intermittent stalling, idling/driving: possible ECU prob
Nailed it. Fusebox under hood. Tried to reach ground point and removed washer tank. Then, just in case wiggled some wires. There is some gremlin, relay clicking and CEL flashing but after 2 hours of senseless action decided to give it to electrician. Let you know what he will find...I hope he will.

Re: Intermittent stalling, idling/driving: possible ECU prob

Is this more or less this location?
I can see some grounding but it looks to me like gnd from battery.
One thick black wire.

And one more question.
I can't find main grounding point. My leggy has watercooler so not much I can see there. I just can't identify this location. Any hints?

Re: Intermittent stalling, idling/driving: possible ECU prob
If I say 'bump' is there a chance someone would kill me? Strange thing, two last times car died it was in some kind of traffic. No moving, steady stop, idling. Once few days ago - means summer, and last time it was much colder but still - little traffic jam. Engine fully warmed which brings CPS to m...

Re: Intermittent stalling, idling/driving: possible ECU prob
Eeeeeerrrrrr....Josh, stupid question. I became more 'acoustic sensible' while driving and noticed some strange thing. When I let off pedal clutch there's some sound that's very much like sound of brake switch click under the brake pedal. I'm starting to think that perhaps some wire interfere with b...

Re: Intermittent stalling, idling/driving: possible ECU prob
No green idea (as we say it here in Poland) :( I just don't know. This is this kind of gremlin, that makes you thinking of getting rid of the car :((( Now nothing is happening but I'm scared already. New battery bought me half a year of easy life. But, there still was a chance that I accindentally w...

Re: Intermittent stalling, idling/driving: possible ECU prob
Hi lads.
It's back again.
Once - for now. Driving uphill, gauges dropped to zero, felt complete lack of power, then it pulled again in a second. No road bump, warm engine, completely random.
Damn
Any, any hints please????

Sure, Josh. I'm sorry fo my silence. I've been out of my town for 2 last days. I promise I'll try my best to rip off combination meter over the weekend and take some shots for you. Speedo is km/h and no spare :( sorry about that. Now I'm unpacking and go to sleep. I'm almost unconcious so I definite...

Checked visually from outside. Definitely 'electronic' written on device.
I assume it's non-us, came from Italy to me.
Josh, don't understand last sentence - what should I do for you?

Re: Intermittent stalling, idling/driving: possible ECU prob
Of course. Need to dismount it first. But even now I can say at photo #3 you've got a round hole for cable. And I cannot say right now if I have this hole - don't remember. But I'm 100% sure there's nothing that goes into that hole. like I said - just three plugs - left, right and upper center. No c...
