Thought I'd post a follow-up now that I finally completed the repair for anyone who has a similar issue... though the cause turned out to be my own incompetence and not the aftermarket part (though I agree with you guys on them being junk and won't be getting them again...) :) You guys were right th...

Thank you for the good suggestions. I took a closer look at it today (now I got some time and another ride for Monday!) and tightened the clamps, then started her up again... only to discover that it's not a massive coolant leak when it gets warm, but a steady coolant leak soon after startup. Doh......

Massive coolant leak :(
Hi everyone, My 94 Subie (Legacy LS N/A) daily driver overheated badly yesterday (above the H)... made the mistake of trying to get it home (few miles), but it cut out at a stop light. Waited for it to cool, restarted OK and drove it the rest of the way. Took a look at it today and it had very littl...

Thanks Josh... that looks like the part. When I removed mine, it came apart so the black ring you see (the seal I'm talking about) and the metal washer below it were still attached firmly to the diff. I removed the black seal and that's what I was looking for a replacement for. I didn't realize it w...

Same problem just started with my '94 last week... diff gear oil leaking out from where the speedo cable sheath ends, behind the dash. I've been putting a plastic bag over my right leg driving to work :D . My Haynes manual talks about changing the speedometer O-ring. I'm thinking this is what I need...

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread... just wanted to follow-up on my problems and solutions. The shuddering round corners was definitely torque binding, and has been resolved completely (for a couple of months now at least...) by a change of transmission fluid (put in the Dexron II compatible from...

Thanks asc_up... I will look into changing that drive half-axle. However, I've discovered that if I put in the FWD fuse (disable AWD), the clicking is still there (guess this is the CV joint), but the shuddering completely goes away. I've been doing some more reading and it sounds like this could be...

Clicking front left / shuddering
Hi everyone, I recently got my first Subaru - a '94 Legacy LS Wagon 4EAT with 165k miles. It's seen better days but drives OK for the most part, and I love it already ... despite the comments from family and friends - mostly because it's Burgundy! ;-). I've put about 40 miles on the car since I boug...
