That is an ej221/ej222 you're speaking of. Not an ej22e.

The ej22t/e heads have a 92mm wide combustion chamber. That's why they work on ej20 blocks.

Re: Wrx heads

If you got 7.3 then you used the wrong combustion chamber volume. The 96 25d heads are 56cc.

Actual compression is somewhere are 6.8-6.9:1 with those heads, I rough calc'd it in my head for the above number.

The other, very large issue, you're going to have using those heads is going to be the 7:1 compression they're going to put you at.

Re: Twin Turbo BE5/BH5 TMIC on EJ20?

You're going to run into problems using that tmic on an ej20k. The bpv will interfere with the iacv. Nothing that wouldn't be worked around, but it won't be a direct replacement. I've seen several people who single turbo convert the TT legacys and keep the stock tmic by using that same type y-pipe k...

Re: Ej251 with ej22t heads questions

The ej25 ej22 hybrids people turbo are configured the other way. It's an ej22 shortblock with ej25 heads. The ej25 heads have a larger combustion chamber volume than the ej22, with the exception of the 99-01 ej221/2/3, thus it lowers the compression ratio to a more turbo safe number. The closest com...

Re: Ej251 with ej22t heads questions

You'll be making a near 11:1 compression engine with the ej251 and 22t heads. Not good for boost by any stretch of the imagination.

Re: RTV or No RTV for Valve Cover Gasket Replacement - SOHC

I highly recommend using rtv on the spark plug tube seals to valve cover connection. This is the most common, and annoying, leak point on those valve covers. Leaks there will leak to misfires because oil will fill the tube and ground out the plugs.

I'm glad this popped back up. I have the washers but completely forgot to measure them. I'm making a reminder on my phone to measure them Thursday evening when I'm not working.

I should have them in a week or so they said it could take up to 5 days to get them from Subaru as it's not a part they keep in stock (no surprise). I'll update with measurements when I get them.

Impreza 20g heads have 49cc combustion chambers, ej205 gaskets will leave you right at 8:1 compression.

Re: ej20g head and ej205 block?

I forget the combustion chamber volume on those offhand, assuming you mean the legacy 20g. I'd use ej205 head gaskets even with those you'll have a fairly low compression ratio, sub 8:1.

Re: EJ22t Short Block/EJ205 Heads, Who done it

The 96 25d heads are not suitable for use on an ej22 at all. The combustion chambers on them are wider that the bore and will cause hot spots and detonation. The 20g heads you have would be your a good choice for your engine, from many member's reviews even with the low compression ratio off boost d...
