I had my local garage (not a dealer) do the timing belt on my UK turbo as it looked hugely complicated in the Haynes manual (available on the amazon.com site as it's US-only). The major cost in doing this replacement (assuming no engine damage) is the cost of the belt itself which is about £120 over...

Let's be honest, the three main things you touch in your car (whilst driving...) are the seat, the wheel and the shifter. Spend a bit of cash on the right bits and it makes a WORLD of difference. I have a Momo wheel and shifter and the standard turbo seat - it's good enough for the age of the car an...

Congratulations!! Mine does that tappet noise quite a lot of the time and I've learned to ignore it... Haynes do a workshop manual, but not for UK Legacies. It's a US version and you can buy it here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1563923262/ref=sr_aps_books_1_1/202-1300047-7491014 Cheers

subyluvr2212, I too lived with my grandparents for a while and it was smothering! Whilst I loved them very much, it's a very big generation gap. The best advice I can give you is to focus on what you do well! Don't take your personal value from anyone else, have a realistic view of yourself. Once yo...

I seem to remember that all the speakers are 165mm diameter (correct me someone if I'm wrong!)

The standard ones seem pretty good to me (JVC CD head - 45w x 4) and I think that the mounting points are probably more of an issue in getting a really quality sound.

Yeah man, but make sure it's someone you trust like the AA. My mate got someone to do an inspection on a turbo and he (a) didn't drive it faster than 60mph and so didn't discover the severe vibration above that which was caused by (b) the previous accident which wrote the car off and wasn't discover...

I've heard that stock for stock the n/a will hang on the rear bumper of the turbo car. I know this is really irrelevant and probably quite childish (no surprise there then!) but NO WAY IN THE UK!! As Huw says, do loads of research before taking the plunge. All twin turbos in the UK are (AFAIK) imports so check everything out with experts first. Prices seem to be coming down but are still surprisingly high for a 10-year old car with fairly poor fuel consumption! I think £3k for a low mileage turbo is fair, especially if you're getting it from a dealer.

Is £850 for insurance fully comp?
