Re: Clutch Bleeding
Well, I've driven my car around for a couple days now. I was worried the snout repair kit wouldn't work, but after talking to Josh about it, and then doing some of my own tests, I was able to see that although pedal doesn't go all the way to the floor, it comes really close. Also, with the car in ge...

Re: Headlight upgrade wiring diagram
So I finally got the headlights all wired in. I have the glass headlights without the electronic level adjuster, and I have the corner lights/blinkers that have a little protrusion for better visibility. Basically I salvaged wiring harnesses from the junkyard to create a harness for the blinkers and...

Re: Clutch Bleeding
vrg3 - Yeah, they were basically finger tight. A couple wouldn't turn with just finger strength, but required no effort with a tiny ratchet to turn just enough to make them loose enough to use your fingers. I can't imagine that I didn't torque those down, but I don't think I used blue locktight last...

Re: Clutch Bleeding
Ok, so I pulled it apart, and it looked pretty good. I asked a neighbor mechanic about the distance that the throw-out bearing could pull out of the pressure plate before the snap ring it was attached to grabbed, and he felt it was normal. It didn't look like the snout was all that groved up, but we...

Re: Headlight upgrade wiring diagram
Vikash,
By saying the common headlight wire, do you mean the yellow line or the black one? I assume yellow, since the black one is for the high beam?
Do we have a wiring diagram somewhere for this that hasn't been lost due to hosting changes?

Re: Headlight upgrade wiring diagram
Ah, I should have prefaced that I'm putting in my EDM glass headlights, although, I do believe you could do this to your stock ones as well. I seem to recall vrg3 talking about doing that. You may see a difference, but the way the stock headlamps disperse the light still hurt the results.

Re: Clutch Bleeding
Going to get to this real soon. Life kind of got in the way of getting around to this. It's annoying, but that's life.

Headlight upgrade wiring diagram
Looking to finally do the wiring and headlight upgrade on my 91 TLegacy. I looked for the wiring diagram but the links seemed to be broken.
Will this wiring diagram work?

Re: Clutch Bleeding
Any chance my clutch could be installed backwards? I'm stretching here I think, but is that even possible to do? I read some posts and people have thought they did that, but it turned out they installed it correctly. Just a passing thought.

Re: Clutch Bleeding
Sorry for being quiet. No, I haven't gotten to my car yet. My truck is in the shop and I'm waiting to get it back. I should get it back tomorrow I'm guessing, though. So hopefully I can pull apart the engine and tranny this weekend.
Do you still want my tranny measurements Josh?

Re: Clutch Bleeding
I'll be sure to measure it when I get it apart Josh. In the mean time, I went to work on my 4runner and change the clutch in that thing and spent way too much time on it. I got it all apart and back together again, went shifting through the gears and went to put the clutch in and heard a "ping&...

Re: Clutch Bleeding
True. Plus, if the throw out bearing is the problem..maybe a new one will fix it, and the new snout comes with a new throw out bearing. I'm going to pull my intercooler and see about getting a look down that observation hole the fork comes out of. The cheapest price I could find a snout from came fr...

Re: Clutch Bleeding
Snout sleeve, huh? I'll do that. Might as well, right? You think a bad snout would cause the clutch to not fully disengage, or do you think it is just one of a couple problems that are going on?

Re: Clutch Bleeding
Ok, so after watching my clutch monkey work the clutch with the car off and on, it appears to me that the slave cylinder is working fine. It doesn't seem to be pushing the fork any less or more in either scenario. The other thing I noticed was a distinctive "ting" sound when the clutch was...

Re: Clutch Bleeding
I forgot, the fork is held in by a pin...so it can't twist, only rotate along its allowed axis. So more than likely it is the throw out bearing. Maybe it isn't clipped in well to the pressure plate or no longer has a strong connection with it. Oddly enough, before I did all this, the pedal was havin...

Re: Clutch Bleeding
I'll get someone to play with the clutch while I watch it from the outside within a few days. I was bleeding it last night by myself with the old "long bar to hold the clutch in" trick. The clutch is fairly new. Less than 50k miles, probably. I installed the clutch (exedy stage 1) and the ...

Re: Clutch Bleeding
Ok, so I bleed the clutch some more tonight. I never saw any air coming out of the SC. The pedal felt good and stiff. I also adjusted the clevis pin so that it lined up with the clutch pedal when they were disconnected and without any pressure to the clutch system (no preloading on the MC). Finally ...

Re: Clutch Bleeding
Also, what I mean by the engine running or not running...with the car off, the pedal felt good and fully pressurized. It was stiff and consistent all the way through the travel. I'd put the clutch in, and turn the car on, and with it in neutral, I'd let it out, then put it back in, and it lost a lot...

Re: Clutch Bleeding
How much space is there usually between the slave cylinder pin and the clutch fork? It seemed to me like the slave cylinder pin was recessed too far from the pin by default. It almost felt like the clutch pedal didn't engage till close to the floor and wouldn't fully disengage the clutch at the full...

Re: Clutch Bleeding
So I'm pretty sure this method works real well. Make sure when you are doing the second part, where you hold the clutch fork in while a buddy pushes the pedal down with the bleeder screw open, that your buddy pushes the pedal slowly. There will be resistance on the clutch fork as well as fluid and a...

Re: Clutch Bleeding
So I just found this link. I'm going to try it out. It is similar to what Josh and Vrg3 have mentioned. I'll let you know how it works. Bleeding Steps The trick here is the last few steps, where instead of just pushing in the clutch fork, you then hold it. While holding it, you open the bleeder scre...
