Re: AWIC pump replacement and Sillicone hose pipes

I'm using a Johnson CM10P7 I believe for my AWIC setup.

I used to have the stock heat exchanger, but my intercooler wasn't staying cool enough on track days. I upgraded to a larger heat exchanger from frozenboost and things are working pretty good now.

magicmike in the hizzouse! also never come on here anymore. too depressing. I spent so much money on my wagons and in the end at least my white one went to a good home. I sold it to a pair of brothers on this board and they are keeping it alive. The funny thing is that they live in my home town whe...

Re: Sudden drop in pressure after 4500 rpms

Hmm, never even considered that. It is a silicone 90 degree elbow I have on the front of the turbo. I suppose I can keep that in mind when doing some more testing. It doesn't feel like it would collapse like that.

Re: Contemplating about a replacement car

We love our volvo. I never thought I'd own one but I really like our volvo. My wife had a mini cooper S when we got married. That was a fun little car, and when we got pregnant with twins we sold it and bought a forester XT. The Forester is really growing on me. It is a little high, but it isn't SUV...

Re: AWIC folks...

Yeah just run it full speed. You may be able to figure out some way for the pump to vary its speed based on temperature, but then you'd need the ecu to get the temperature readings (which I'm not sure all the intercoolers came with), and you'd need an ecu that would control it, or you'd need to come...

Re: Sudden drop in pressure after 4500 rpms

Thanks for the tip Josh! Unfortunately I'm not sure it will help. The wastegate is probably set to 10 or so psi, I would imagine. It's a vf23, so I'm not certain what they are set at. My car runs fine on 15psi. No hick-ups or pressure drops at all. The ECU is a Robtune, and the ecu boost control was...

Re: Sudden drop in pressure after 4500 rpms

I'm running a gofastbits manual boost controller. The pressure sensors haven't been known to leak have they? Seems it can only be a hose (I've clamped and zip tied all of them), wastegate, or bypass valve as far as I'm thinking. I'm going to pick up one of those Forge bypass valves with interchangea...

Re: Direct Upgrade replacement for OEM Diverter/Bypass Valve

I thought as much! I originally found this company because of an image they had for a protoge bypass valve. It looked just like ours but I couldn't figure out if the flow was the same direction in relation to the clocking of the manifold hose. Then I found out they made one for our cars as well. I l...

Direct Upgrade replacement for OEM Diverter/Bypass Valve

So I finally found a direct replacement diverter/bypass valve for our cars. It is a drop in replacement for the Subaru OEM part number 14471AA001. Forge Motorsports makes one. This valve also is modifiable. There are 4 springs that they sell to set the threshold of the valve as well. I'm thinking I'...

Sudden drop in pressure after 4500 rpms

So I'm running a RobTune 550 setup with a vf23. I can run 15psi on this setup without any issues. I finally hooked up a voltage readout to the MAF so I could see how far I could raise the boost levels before reaching the limits of the MAF. What I'm finding is that when I raise boost over 16psi, once...

Re: PLX DM-6 Gen 4 Install

Sure. If you want to have an accurate reading on what your fuel/air mixture is at. I can imagine having one on a motorcycle or other vehicle that has a NA motor. If you are running stock, there isn't too much expectation that things will be off, but it would be a safety measure. Say you go around a ...

Re: PLX DM-6 Gen 4 Install

Updates: So doing some more testing, I did a couple things. I picked up another MAF and FPR from the junkyard. The MAF didn't make a difference. While changing that out I also hooked up a fuel pressure gauge, and used a hand pump (suggested to me by Rob), to test the vacuum and pressure values on th...

Re: PLX DM-6 Gen 4 Install

Ok, well I poked around with some starter fluid. No noticeable differences. I got the fuel pump, and then I installed it. The old fuel pump looked good and with the new one installed easily. I didn't notice any difference in A/F ratios. So now I'm going to look at the MAF and probably buy an adjusta...

Re: PLX DM-6 Gen 4 Install

Oh yeah? Ok, I'll pick some up and see if I notice anything. I did get my injectors cleaned and I had one injector operating at fair condition. After the clean they all ran within spec. Putting them in actually helped the initial start-up stutter that apparently was worse than the normal ej20 cold s...

Re: PLX DM-6 Gen 4 Install

Well I spent some time spraying carb cleaner around the intake, and all the intake connections pre and post turbo. Nothing. I did notice a small crack in the 90 degree elbow that comes off the snorkus just before the turbo. The clamp covers it, and spraying carb cleaner in there didn't cause any dif...

Re: PLX DM-6 Gen 4 Install

Wideband is in the stock location. Stock airbox....although, what if I'm getting in air that isn't metered? That would make me a little more lean. The intake was adapted a bit. I have a 90 degree samco hose for the front of the turbo (VF23 doesn't have the metal intake elbow), and I fabbed up an exh...

Re: PLX DM-6 Gen 4 Install

That's what I was afraid of. I'll have to check for any boost leaks. I'm going to pull out the injectors and have them flow tested as well. I never had them tested before putting them in, so its possible one may be putting out less volume than the others, although I don't get any hesitation issues. ...

PLX DM-6 Gen 4 Install

Ok, so after doing lots of searching and looking around I settled on a PLX DM-6 (Gen 4) wideband Air Fuel ratio gauge. I chose it because of it was expandable with the option of adding other sensors, and more importantly, it allowed for a narrow band simulator wire so I could just replace my existin...

Re: Wideband A/F gauge users - Digital or Analog?

I couldn't find out if the AEM UEGO had a narrowband output. The failsafe seemed to I believe, but it was more expensive. The PLX has the downside of having little modules you have to locate somewhere, but it seemed to be pretty good and well priced. I went with that. It also has the added benefit t...

Re: Looking for input on a forester purchase

Will do. I don't plan on doing anything super crazy. Power wise the most I'd want do is the old uppipe/turbo/intercooler/ecu mod from an STi. Anything else would be suspension work, but I'm not looking to make gobs of power out of it as it will be a daily driver. I still have my trusty Legacy for my...

Re: Looking for input on a forester purchase

Thanks for the input guys! We test fitted the car seat in an 07 and an 04. I guess they are the same dimensions in the cabin. I'm pulling the trigger on an 04 outside of Portland this weekend. The car should work for us for a little while until we decide we need to get something larger. Time will te...

Re: Wideband A/F gauge users - Digital or Analog?

Does the AEM UEGO have a narrowband simulation line that I can wire up to the ecu so I can just replace my stock 02 sensor?
