Re: old habits die hard

the car is set up 3.9 cable trans, got a JY replacement and I'm halfway through the swap right now. but greatly appreciate the offer. thinking of going 6mt if this one breaks. But I don't plan to drive it too hard or turn up the power too much.

old habits die hard

I had told myself I was through with subarus until I went through a succession of other brands with varying degrees of success. as luck would have it I found this beauty just a stone's throw away from home. She's already 5mt swapped by the previous owner. albeit missing 2nd, 3rd, R, but with the all...

Re: Free 02 wrx trans or $250 1994 legacy 5speed swap?

cable trans: cheaper to buy/replace, easy to find, easier to install and set up, no hydraulics to screw around with, however they have fewer options for a strong clutch and the pedal feel is maybe not as good as hydraulic.

jibb

the conventional wisdom with solid mounts is to solid mount the engine only, and put poly or delrin at the trans. if you hard mount the tranny only, you WILL crack a tranny case.

Re: GODZIRRA! 90 Legacy Wagon Project.

so this is kind of a KOH style build using an old subaru wagon and a flat 6? that is what i call esoteric. :-D what are you using for knuckles? is the diff going to be center mounted and if so how do you plan to clear the oil pan? seems like if you could get a low pinion diff then it could be tucked...
