Misc 22T Stuff

This stuff was in storage for a few years while I was out of the country, now back up for sale. All parts were stripped off around 162,000 miles so so I could sell my bare longblock (which is long gone). Everything operated properly prior to my engine swap. EJ22T intake manifold $50+ shipping. Inclu...

Re: Is this a normal cam seal failure?

In the process of replacing the rest of the seals, I found both my RH/Driver's side seals are backed out several mm. Not enough to leak noticeably, but if I had decided to just keep adding oil and hold off on finding my leak I could have had a big mess on my hands down the road if the other two popp...

Re: Is this a normal cam seal failure?

Yup. Just hanging out loose on the end of the cam. I would have expected this due to age if they were original pieces, but these were new OEM seals installed about 4 years ago. The seal itself looks fine. Not torn, chewed, disintegrated, etc. Looks like it could be pressed back in and go another few...

Is this a normal cam seal failure?

This is what I found chasing down a profuse oil leak originating from my timing cover. Something tells me some oil may have been seeping out of there  But seriously is that normal seal failure or should I be worried about crankcase pressure or some other issue? https://thumb.ibb.co/i5ZJFG/20171...

Re: Robtune with stock catback/axleback

That feedback helps a lot. I've got the EJ20G/TD05 so it definitely sounds like I'll loose some power going as quiet as I want to cheaply. I've looked at the Hushback, but man it's expensive. I guess having a subtle tone and good flow costs money. I think I might try grabbing a used STI axleback sin...

Re: Robtune with stock catback/axleback

Mike, are you able to elaborate more on "really kills the top end"? I'd expect maybe a minor power loss, however I'm not looking to make the car markedly slower. Also, was that with a stock downpipe/cats? I'm thinking that keeping my catless downpipe and possibly midpipe that I'd alleviate the worst...

Re: Robtune with stock catback/axleback

The appeal of the SS/TW system is that it is a direct fit, and I don't have access to welding tools anymore. So if our system flows as well as the STI's (and I believe I remember reading that it does or likely does) I'd much rather go that route. If the stock STI system does flow better than ours, t...

Robtune with stock catback/axleback

Just wondering what peoples' thoughts were on running the Robtune with a catless bellmouth downpipe, but mated to a factory catback or axleback exhaust. Since the SS/TW have 2.5" all the way through the muffler, I'd imagine any loss would only be at the very top end, if any at all. My goal is to get...

Nice! I can't get over how much he talks about it being a death trap with no traction. To me that just sounds like an old-fashioned fun daily-driver, haha.

That's pretty cool. Any chance of getting the graph uploaded so we can see the shape of the torque curve?

Re: Phase 1 JDM 4EAT into 93 SS?

From my memory (and it's been a while), the VTD trans should drop in if you have the matching TCU and rear diff. However, you can search out VTD swaps for the SVX for greater clarification. Since the SVX was never offered in manual, the sportier auto swaps are much more discussed on that platform.

Re: intercooler questions

That came from my knowledge of the STI IC water sprayer system. Distilled water only, required to drain if operating in freezing temperatures. Its definitely not comparable to an IC spray system. RS Liberty Club has the 92 service manual uploaded, but it curiously doesn't list the specific fluid. I...

Yeah I never heard of the no antifreeze thing. I'd really like to know if there's anything behind that. I have the AWIC with about 25% mixture.

Ford, GM, and Mercedes AWIC parts can be found dirt cheap and are designed for 380-600+hp systems, definitely worth looking into for pumps and front heat exchangers.

That looks like a blast. I plan on doing similar one day. How did you keep the car so immaculately clean the entire way? Did you keep a clay bar and wax kit with you?

I took a trip to Sydney over Christmas and saw a beige facelift Wagon in South Maroubra on Broome St, as well as a dark steely colored facelift Wagon parked on the north side of Maroubra beach. They really stood out to me because living in the northeast US with road salt, and then Japan with their a...
