Beverly, MA - GONE - FREE: EJ22T Engine

This was part of a whole car giveaway with a second engine, but circumstances changed and there's only the one EJ22T engine. Free, just come and get it. You can take the engine stand it's on, too, if you want. It's partly disassembled, but most of it should be there. Block is the important part, any...

Re: FREE: EJ22T Engine

I edited the OP, but Duchess is gone. There is still an EJ22T engine to be had.

Thanks

Re: FREE: Two EJ22T Engines

The top pic, but dirtier and the fender is also attached now. Can't find the title anywhere and I know I saw it somewhere, but it looks like I'll have to apply for a new one, which is a whole pain in the ass because Massachusetts. I'm having it towed to a storage unit today, so I'll try to get some ...

Beverly, MA - FREE: EJ22T Engine

Due to changing circumstance, Duchess is now gone, which was worse than losing everyone buy my mother and grandfather. However, there is still an EJ22T engine in the lonely garage, come and get it, take the engine stand it's on, too, if you like. ORIGINAL AD: One engine partly disassembled, the seco...

Re: OEM recommends 7,500 mile oil change interval.

Or was it the insult to Rand because I think you missed the point. Taking care of things is admirable, but mindlessly following marketing and not thinking for oneself makes one a slave in the first place. They put themselves there, so I'm suggesting a mutually beneficial arrangement. I worked with a...

Re: OEM recommends 7,500 mile oil change interval.

It's not as simple as credit. Credit isn't the problem, it's part of the plot and I don't mean to imply some ridiculous conspiracy theory at work, but the natural progression of greater influence of industry which has been increasing its influence at greater rates every year (with huge jumps after W...

Re: OEM recommends 7,500 mile oil change interval.

I'm not faulting someone for taking care of their stuff, but it's just unnecessary (and not even as advised in the manual) and it causes him pain with his back problems (legit, as he's had several operations and still has chronic pain). Keeping it in a garage rather than outside (as he does) would d...

Re: OEM recommends 7,500 mile oil change interval.

Yeah, I think it's just BS spread by the oil and resellers. I have one of those fearful people as an uncle who argued with me about this, insisting on 3k mile oil changes so as "not to take the chance" on his yellow 2000 V6 Mustang (picture the type now?). Whatever, it's his time (under th...

Re: OEM recommends 7,500 mile oil change interval.

I always use synthetic and I did every 7500 or so in the Legacy, 10k in the Mazda3 and 2012 Focus (which is also about when the computer tells me it's time to change it). Mazda ran like new when I traded it with 156k and didn't use a detectable amount of oil between changes. Legacy engine looked alm...

Re: Mud flaps for a 1990

FWIW, mine were in a dealer catalog. There were pictures he showed me of them to pick them out. IIRC, there were 3 styles: "Subaru", "Legacy", and blank (perhaps also a simpler design that didn't hug the fenders). They were, like, $8. Since these cars are so old, you're best bet ...

Re: Is this 1993 Legacy worth fixing?

Don't expect to keep it as a future concours contestant, but it's probably worth it. The inner fender that's part of the shell may need a hammer to get a new fender on. Also might need a new headlight housing. Check to see it's not cracked at the mounting points. Make sure the strut tower isn't fuck...

Re: 1986 Subaru GL-10 Leone TURBO

If you do cut the hood, the Mitsubishi Evo style vent would help flow through the coolers as well as keeping that heat out of the engine compartment. But, I hope you can get it without cutting. What's up with the rear wheel in that bottom picture? Is that camber adjustment to try to tame insane over...

Re: water is everywhere

That'll do it. One of the earlier things on the expensively long list of remedies to brand new DeLoreans that jacked up the price when they arrived in the US from Ireland was replacing the weatherstripping. The people they had building them had no idea what they were doing—many didn't even own cars—...

I bought mine at the dealer. I believe all the gen 1 cars were the same except one might have said, 'LEGACY' and the other, 'SUBARU'. I don't know, it was probably back in 1999 or so.

Re: FS (WA): 1974 Datsun 260z MAKE ME AN OFFER

I guess it's still tough selling these. The buyers are out there, but they're tough to find. Bought my 62k original mile, 1 owner 260Z in great original shape with almost no rust (I don't know if there was such a thing as NO rust unless it was fully restored) & even working A/C in 1994 for $1600...

Re: 93 BC 6speed awd swap

Clutch is probably stuck. In the old days before clutch pedal interlocks (stupid government laws pandering to morons), you could sometimes break it lose by by starting it in gear. Didn't always work, but was probably worth the shot. Now, it means you're pulling the engine no matter what unless you b...

Re: 93 BC 6speed awd swap

It can be disconnected. You don't need it. When the car is sitting exceeding a certain angle from level stopped, the brakes are held until the clutch is re-engaged. It's been about 8 years since I've looked at it, but if it's the hill holder, the cable should follow back to a lever at the master cyl...

Re: Tail Light Replacement

Hopefully, it will be as easy as my old GL sedan bodywise. I came into a ramp too hot for the sand that was laying across it and tagged the guardrail at about 80 with the right rear. Cracked the side of the light and had a dent I was able to kick almost back to normal from inside the trunk. I expect...

Yeah, the only ones with rear drums were the rare base models that I think were discontinued by then anyway. And, my mistake, I thought you had a turbo for some reason, but that doesn't matter as the stock N/A brakes are fine with the same mods I mentioned, too. I'm Steve. An old friend of mine live...

16's are no problem. I have Forester 5-spokes up from aftermarket 15's I had for years. These cars aren't like ordinary cars. I used to blast down a dirt road the Post Office stopped delivering mail on and the car never cared. If I took most cars down there, I'd be looking at all kind of expensive p...
