Re: ej20k piston rings and rebuild issue questions

Welcome to the BBS. The rings should have sealed by now and you shouldn't really be getting clouds of smoke....or at least my rebuilds didn't do that. I would do a compression check to see what you're getting. That would be the easiest option and maybe help point to a turbo issue or something with t...

What has changed?

Do you know your AFR's when the popping/hesitation occurs? I'm going to assume it's pretty rich.

Re: Ej20k swap with the 550 robtune

The coolant temp sensor on the dash and the one for the ECU are completely different sensors. So if both are acting up I would suspect there is a wiring issue. What have you done to verify the wiring of the coolant temp sensors and other codes back to the ECU?

As long as you keep all the tires the same it shouldn't matter much.

Re: Help with low idle

My suggestion would be to try and build this scan tool so you can see what is exactly going on in the ECU, or if you have or know someone with a Subaru Select monitor to read the ECU...that would also work.

https://surrealmirage.com/vrg3/b10scan

Beyond that, you could try another ECU.

Yessir, getting a nice spark and plenty of fuel. Going to check compression next.

You may want to check the timing belt as well.

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

Are you getting spark? Did you rest the plug on the block while cranking to see if there's a spark? You can also use a noid light.

If you have spark and you are getting fuel then maybe the timing belt jumped a tooth....that may be a long shot, but not sure what else it could be.

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

It's probably the crank seal and/or oil pump. If you haven't done the seals I would recommend doing them. They aren't too difficult and not super expensive if you can do the labor yourself.

Let us know what you decide.

Re: BBS Maintenance

So I just ran into a situation where I clicked on a link in an old post that was not using SSL. When I did that it was like I was logged out and never logged in. As soon as I went back to the main page with SSL I was logged in again. So it appears that the SSL rewrite isn't working. I had thought it...

Have you followed the instructions in Rob's thread about the ignition converter?

Beyond that, I'm not sure what other modifications are necessary.

the only time you dont need to have the ignitor at all is with the cop setup. if you are using a converter, the ignitor needs to be modified!
That's only if you're using the newer style COP with integrated igniter.

That sucks about the oil pan. Was it rusted and that what caused the pin hole leak?

I'm not sure how that turndown pipe is going to take care of your exhaust issue. It's still going to be an open header more or less.
