The MAF sensors on our cars are very reliable and will flow a considerably more air than is needed for these engines in almost all cases. The bad news did come with the '99 units and they are not a MAF sensor they are a MAP sensor in a MAF case and were a lot of trouble as the pressure sensing unit ...

It is a hot wire and the output of it is very close to the n/a MAF output if that is listed. Some of the very early n/a cars even used a metal cased MAF that was almost identical to the turbo unit.

I have the TD05 that is in the parts shed I realize that the price that I am asking is a little higher than most but feel that this turbo is in very good condition. It came from AUS. and the company that sold it to me said that it only had 9,000 miles on it. For other turbo's you could contact the c...

I would rather have fewer lights on the indicator, all that is really needed is six two in the lean range two in the center and two in the rich more than that and it's all lights. The LM3914 can be wired this way. What I did was put a meter on the line and noted what light came on at about .85-.9 vol...

I don't know why it wouldn't but people said that Blitz and the others had the market pretty much to themselves and they may be right. If you are loosing brake vacuum right away there is a check valve in the line to prevent this and they can get dirty and stick open. If it is the internal type of va...

That is funny! Josh what can happen in the ignition switch is that the key part wears a bit and will not quite turn the switch part of the assembly far enough to contact the start terminal at times. As far as curing this by turning your lights on might have something to do with the AC and windsheild...

I would agree that the upgraded pump is a good idea several years ago we were running a EJ22t at the strip and found that at the top end it wasn't really pressure ( it did at first look like it) but the fuel pump just wasn't able to deliver enough fuel and with a pressure gauge attached the pressure...

One other thing to watch for is any dark discoloration at the point where the porcelain joins the metal part of the plug we found a bad one with a HV test unit in #4 on my car and when it was removed we found a very fine line that went almost all the way around the plug the only symtom was a miss at...

If I let this one out of the bag one of my partners would have me shot at sunrise. But I probably would do the same to them. This really seems to work well on my car and I was always the one to say that the stock setup was pretty good. :? This might be a good alternative to the expensive ign stuff. ...

This is a normal occurance on the turbo motors. I have a oil separator in the intake system on my car and a company that I am associated with is building a unit for the turbo Legacy. This causes an additional problem on the cars with intercoolers as the oil film is a an insulator and decreases the e...

It is MTBE Methyl Tertiary-Butyl Ether they put in the gas supply in some states. It is supposed to make rose petals come out of the exhaust pipe, an oxy fuel. It is rapidly losing favor as it is contaminating the ground water in several states and it doesn't break down. Those plugs really don't loo...

I am rebuilding one of my EJ22t engines with a lot of guidance from a person that has been building these engines for 27 years. I did ask him about wrist pins and he told me that they were trouble free and did not have to be replaced. The factory manual gives the specs on clearance as 0.001 -0.013mm...

It is for external RAM that could be programmed into it but the IC itself was made by a company called Fujitsu and hasn't been available for almost ten years and was a specialized IC so nothing else will work. I have run 1/4 mile runs at Bandimere Speedway in Denver several times with a n/a engine at 8500 rpm, the power seemed to fall off at about 7300 but this was with a '95 Legacy motor in a '87 Loyale with the original fuel pump. You might want to look at our discussion at the intercooler forum at 13lbs boost w/o intercooler. It is possible with very good engine management to get 300hp or a little better but I would say that probably means a lot of performance ad-ons. The cooler and therefore denser charge in to the cyl, fue...
