Are the VF40 fins on my wife's LGT toasted?
Hey, folks! So today while we were on the highway, my wife's 2005 LGT threw a CEL and the turbo started making a "wizzing" sound. I immediately got out of boost, and limped it home, despite knowing this is not a good idea. The scanner showed P0011 and P0021 codes - which are often related,...

Just for clarification: these are pre-facelift headlights, correct?

Re: Clutch pedal length and master cylinders
A larger master and smaller slave will increase effort but decrease the pedal throw, but I don't think it'll be as substantial as what you have now. A mechanic friend had told me a larger bore in the master would result in a shorter pedal throw, but I didn't think about the slave, too. The only que...

Clutch pedal length and master cylinders
Hello friends! So I'm in the market for a new clutch master cylinder, which in general should be pretty easy to get a hold of. Long story short (read the whole story here: http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=54735) I've gotten really used to a "short" clutch pedal. By that...

Re: TD05-16G Failure... what next?
FWIW I tried rebuilding the VF11 and it turned out to not be worth it. With as fast as these things spin everything needs to be properly balanced and once you take them apart they should be checked IMO. By the time you do that you could have gotten a good used one. Very true. Perhaps I'll just dona...

Re: Vacuum Lines - Ramblings/Ideas
Thanks for the insight, guys! I'm running a TurboXS MBC, so that would alleviate some of the concern brought up by PhyrraM's response. This is definitely down the line a ways, after I make some more power. Really, right now, the car is a blast to drive. But I always need to add my own personal touch...

TD05-16G Failure... what next?
Hello there! So, I have swapped my EJ22T with a JDM EJ20G, which came with the TD05-16G. Long story short, my TD05 had some "issues" shortly after getting the swap running again, as you'll see in the photos below.. I'll admit that they were caused, most likely, by my own negligence, but th...

Vacuum Lines - Ramblings/Ideas
Hello there! Something I've always wanted to do with my car is tidy up the engine bay. We all know there are hoses everywhere in our engines, and one of the culprits is the mess of vacuum lines that make everything go round. I've been toying around with the idea of replacing, over time, the vacuum l...

Tires and Odometers and Gas Mileage
Okay so I'm not here to bring up the topic of whether taller tires give better gas mileage or whatever. Here's what I'm wondering, and I'm having trouble wrapping my head around it. Let's say I'm running taller tires than stock, and I haven't done any adjustments to the odometer or anything like tha...

Re: Troubleshooting a clutch issue (sticking to the floor)
I suppose a long-shot is the length of the push-rods (either the pedal-to-master or the slave-to-fork) could be wrong/not stock. So the previous owner swapped it from 4EAT to 5MT, but I cannot recall which car the transmission came from. I do know that the clutch operated fine before and after (tho...

Troubleshooting a clutch issue (sticking to the floor)
Alright. So I've searched for issues much like mine, but haven't yet found an answer that quite fits what's going on with my 1991 SS. The car has been sitting (not running) for about 5 years now. A few months ago, I noticed that the clutch pedal snaps down to the floor after about 25% of its throw, ...

Re: Jillian's story!
Update I should have posted about a month ago: Picked up a universal joint, and that still didn't work. Tried to use two wrenches, and that didn't work. Finally gave up and dropped the crosspipe off. I'm pretty sure I took the timing belt off, too. Found out some time ago that the waterpump pulley i...
