Re: EJ20G "RobTune" Info
What about a 740 tune can u do that? Eventually yes. Hey Rob, i emailed you about a week ago, i'm ready to purchase an ecu to get my new project up and running. Yep got busy. Should be all handled now. I was told you are the one to talk to about ECU tuning. I have a 93 legacy SS. Was a EJ22t stock....

Re: EJ20G "RobTune" Info
gotcha. so would you be able to make it so we could run a different MAP sensor with the Z32 MAF so more boost could be run and still have the safety feature of boost cut? Oh, I see what you are getting at. Yes, I have spent a little time working that out. I have the code to adapt the EJ20K MAP sens...

Re: EJ20G "RobTune" Info
Typically for my 550 tune I remove the boost cut altogether so the MAP sensor's limit is not an issue. Granted, it isn't an ideal solution, but it gets the job done.

Re: EJ20G "RobTune" Info
Yeah I know, but they make upgraded MAPs to read more boost. The MAP and MAF sensors serve two different purposes. The MAF measures mass air flow into the engine. This is the basis for all engine "load" calculations and fuel calculations. The MAP is basically used for boost control and at...

Re: Ej20g engine, with ej22t wiring harness, and ej20g ECU??
ok, so i came across a ej20t 4 plug ECU, now my questions is, before i spend money on it, if i know it was from an ej20t engine, and it is 4 plug, am i guaranteed that it will work? (of course if it isn't broken itself) and also would there need to have any MAF changes? i was reading on kimo's thre...

Re: EJ20G "RobTune" Info
Not really. I am just trying to keep up with orders and email questions. Hopefully things slow down sometime soon so I can work on more development.
People are running my converter and the EJ20G tune successfully so I have put the EJ22T ECU tunes on the back (well way back) burner.

Re: Rob's 4to2 Igntion Converter
Thanks for sharing your install details guys. I have been woefully delinquent in posting the official install instructions. I had taken a bunch of pictures of the Mule install, but after a very impressive chain of events, they were lost forever off my PC. After that things got busy. It is good to he...

Re: Rob's 4to2 Igntion Converter
I fitted my first production unit on The Mule, and am happy to report it works just as well as the prototype. I pushed the boost up a bit and rung it out to 7k. It runs flawlessly. At this point I am ready to take my first set of orders! I should have my first nine finished this weekend. Send email ...

Re: Rob's 4to2 Igntion Converter
I have not seen any hint of ignition breakup. It's more that I don't fully understand the minute details of charging the coil or the particular timing of either style, so the bug is always chewing in the back of my head. As far as physical observations, everything is perfect. To put it simply, the ...

Re: Rob's 4to2 Igntion Converter
I believe all subaru igniters (at least the ones we are working with) are "dumb" igniters and the dwell is controlled by the ECU. I guess there may be a concern that the EJ20G coils may take less time to charge and therefore the EJ20G ECU would not charge the ej22t coils long enough to rea...

Re: Rob's 4to2 Igntion Converter
I took the test mule out for a 2 hour 150 mile drive averaging 80 mph. I also did a run up to 110. This included some pulls to redline and going through all of the gears in traffic and on the highway. SO far it feels like stock, with nothing to tell you something was changed. It is only running abo...

Re: Rob's 4to2 Igntion Converter
I handed off the test mule still running my prototype back to Drew for some unbiased opinions on how it runs. I'll let him elaborate if he likes, but the report was that as far as the ignition system goes, it runs as stock. Ok, parts and PCBs came back last week. I worked on assembling the first one...

Re: Rob's 4to2 Igntion Converter
oh ok. If that is case, yes. I can chip any ej20g WRX ecu. There is no reason to pay more for an STi or RA any special version. They have identical electrical hardware and once chipped, it doesn't matter what they originally were.
