Rabin, where you from? I've got a '90 Legacy I'm trying to part in WOodstock, which will be in the wrecking yard this week. I have no idea the extent of work required to remove the part, but my engine was running great and doesn't have any abnormal sounds I'm aware of. Send me a PM if you think that...

No problem!

Same offer to anybody on the board, come to my car with 4 spares (or whatever it can roll on) and swap for the rims. Good 14" inch alloys, perfect for winter!

It has the stock aluminum wheels, 14" size, 2 with brand new tires, 2 with worn tires. Previous owner wasn't the best driver though, there is some serious curb rash on one tire. Also not sure why he was running 2 worn tires on an AWD. I swapped them out for my winters right away and hadn't boug...

Car goes to the wreckers today, so if you've got any parts requests, as unlikely as that will be given its a '90, let me know ASAP.

I've pulled the grill, motor cover and a couple other little things somebody may want.

So I've decided the car isn't worth repairing, due to economics.

Just so the thread has closure to anybody searching for answers in the future.

And thus ends my tenure on the Subaru board. Sigh. For now :)

Hourly labour is 89 an hour. They said approx. 5 hours.

I'm going to get a second quote before I have the work done though.

You guys would swap the whole tranny rather than just fixing the seal? I'm confused, because my tranny is fine, just blew the seal. The seal itself is 50 bucks.

Its 450 dollars just to drop the tranny, not to fix it. We're talking a lot of labour here.

It has 217,000 kilometers on it. I've had it for 10,000 kms of that. Its been running just fine for me. The maintenance records I have shown the fluid was flushed as recently as 2 years ago. Prior to that, I'm not sure of maintenance. Yeah, I've heard nothing but bad things about the 4EAT. I'd love ...

Transmission seal blew?

So, please bear with my general lack of mechanical knowledge. I'm going to explain this situation as carefully as I can, but I'm not a mechanic. I have a '90 Legacy, AWD, auto trans. It has worked fine up in the couple months I've owned it. I was driving along the highway this past weekend, when I l...

Ah, crap. I looked around a bit last night for that answer but didn't see anything, guess I didn't look deep enough.

Too bad, it was a good price too.

The trunk lid should fit, but you may want to grab the tail lights to go with it or it'll look goofy. The hood will not match up properly though, unless you want to swap out the fenders, corner lights and headlights too... along with re-wiring your front blinkers. Ah, alright, thanks! I'll try to g...

Trunk fitment question

Hey all I have the opportunity to purchase a 1994 "turbo" trunk, one with a spoiler. I have a 1990 Legacy L. Would this fit, did the body style change in any way this would not work right? The body style changed after 1991, but do the 1992-94 fit?? Same question goes for the hood, as I may...

FWD or AWD? And how many miles? AWD, and its got 208,000 kilometers (so thats around 120,000 miles, roughly?) Took her on our first long-distance trip this weekend. Averaged 8 litres per hundred kilometers, which is 29 miles per gallon. I thought that was pretty impressive for an 18-year-old AWD car!

Now go outside and start working on my Legacy.

Updated! Nope, all Ontario.

Car needs some work, in its current state I'm not certain it'd make it three provinces over!

Drive it and have fun. Better car than a new Mazda3 and has the beater halo that assures that few other drivers will want to mess with you. I agree lol. I just had a 2001 Mazda Protege, which I sold so I could reduce debt and get a fun car. I'd rather an old car that can get dinged in a parking lot...

Woodstock, Ontario. I've got some basic work planned for it, like patching up the rust holes, a home-done paint job (when the gf calls your car purple, you listen!) and I want to go with some rally fog lights. I'm hoping in the future to trade her for a Legacy 5 speed, but for now I'm going to have ...

New to the board - here is my rust box

Well, I just joined up and this is my mint-condition 1990 Legacy. Right...So its got some rust! I picked it up for 500 bucks (Canadian). Its an auto-tragic unfortunately, but I needed a cheap car. My buddy owned a 5 speed Legacy turbo two winters ago, so I know how much fun these cars can be. http:/...
