Somehow the rod on #1 had gotten a twist in it, and my new crankshaft was machined differently on the counterbalances to where it actually hit.

Yeah no kidding, ive built 10+ engines and this is the strangest thing i've encountered. None of the other pistons have clearance issues. The area that is making contact with the piston is the outside of the cranshaft counterweight.

Ej22 cranks.. all the same?

Im in the process of rebuilding my ej22t that died due to oil starvation (oil pump failed). It ate up the #2 rod bearing, rod and crankshaft. I picked up a crank from a member of this forum several weeks back and finally got around to assembling the bottom end today, only to find that when cyl #1 is...

Money is sent.

BTW, the race bearings aren't worth the extra cost in most engines. They are actually quite a bit harder material and are more damaging. Ive built several motors (some high hp) with acl duraglides with great success.

Well guys its completely torn down now and in the process of being cleaned.. most of the bearings look bad and indicate oil starvation even though the oil level was fine.. then i started looking closer. the engine has an aftermarket oil pump which actually caused the bearing failure. I found 3 of th...
