Re: Seat belt repair?

Thanks. I tried the allen wrench crank, and couldn't get it to budge. I'll pull the trim and see what I can figure out about the cable.

Seat belt repair?

I've scanned through a lot of threads, and I'm not finding what I'm looking for. If I missed it, forgive me for asking a question that has already been answered. Is there a thread here with a comprehensive overview of how the automatic seatbelts work, and how to repair them? Or a link to this inform...

Re: caliper sticking, even when replaced with reman

well, it appears that it IS routed like the diagram you sent, I crossed up a couple of lines while I was tracking them down. Even at that, I did replace the proportioning valve, and that was the only device between the MC and the LR caliper. And a new master cylinder, as predicted, didn't help, eith...

Re: caliper sticking, even when replaced with reman

I will, thanks. Even if they are routed like this, as they are supposed to be, the LR wheel still appears to have its own separate port on the MC. Unless the new caliper is no good, I suppose it could still be a MC problem. Either way, don't have many things left that it could be. MC or bad caliper,...

Re: caliper sticking, even when replaced with reman

It's possible I switched a couple as I was following them along... That's a diagram that I did not have in the Haynes manual.

yes, they do look all OEM and not messed with. Which wheels are the hill holder SUPPOSED to control?

Re: caliper sticking, even when replaced with reman

No ABS. The single line coming off of the rear of the MC goes to the hill holder, which then has two lines coming out of it, each one going to a front wheel. The front of the MC has two lines coming off of it, which go to the proportioning valve, and then two lines leave the proportioning valve, hea...

Re: caliper sticking, even when replaced with reman

I'd be reluctant to replace the MC if it's only symptomatic to one wheel. the rear wheels each have their own separate line coming from the MC on this car, which is what made me think it could be the problem, and this MC has been on there for a LOOOONG time. So, I figure I should probably replace i...

Re: caliper sticking, even when replaced with reman

hm.. looks like I got some bogus information from the Hayne's manual, after all. It says that this brake system is split diagonally, so that one circuit feeds the LF and RR, and the other circuit feeds the other two. But when I crawled around and followed lines, it looks like the rear of the MC serv...

caliper sticking, even when replaced with reman

I've got a 1990 Legacy wagon with about 320k on it. Last spring, I started getting a dragging brake on the left rear, and went and bought reman'd calipers, new rotors, pads and park brake shoes all around. Ended up scoring another car a couple of days later, so I shelved the parts and parked the car...

Re: parts needed, WA/OR

thanks, I'm about 90 minutes from Portland, so I was kind of hoping to find someone here who I knew had the parts I need, and I wouldn't have to make the drive down just hoping to get lucky at the u-pull-it. And I can never find door handles at the u-pull-it that still have the keys with them.

parts needed, WA/OR

Need a clean, non rusty muffler/rear tailpipe section for a 90 Legacy wagon. Also need front outside door handles with key for the same car. Preferably in Portland/Seattle area.

thanks!

Re: heater control help needed!

Yeah, it turned out to be that yellow plug in the back of the control unit. Wiggle it and the fan comes on, wiggle it again and the fan goes off. I got it back in there in a position where it's currently working, but I'm not sure how long it will stay that way. Thanks for the help!

Re: heater control help needed!

Thanks!

I figured out from the Haynes manual that there is a relay, but it wasn't exactly helpful when it came to telling me where it was. Guess I should have replaced that one while I had the dash out.... :?

heater control help needed!

90 Legacy wagon. Ever since I bought this car three years ago, I've had heater control troubles. First time the heater stopped working, I went to the u pull its, and found a new heater control and installed it. Worked a little bit, and then back to no heater. Ignored it all summer, then in the winte...

WTB, Portland, OR area, center timing cover, EJ22

I'm coming into the city Monday or Tuesday to pick up my timing belt parts. I also need to get a clean center section of the timing belt cover for an EJ22 engine. Mine got thrashed by a bad idler bearing.

thanks!

when to replace oil pump?

So, I have an engine in my 90 Legacy that now has 135K or so since it was supposedly rebuilt, and the bearing in the toothed ilder pulley on the timing belt went bad a while back, causing me to park the car for a while. Now I have it apart and am going to pick up my timing belt parts next week, and ...

actually, I meant the transmission, sorry, I wasn't very clear. I need to replace the MT in my legacy, and I found a core transmission from a EJ18 impreza that I was thinking of having rebuilt for my Legacy. The tranny in my car is toast, with chipped teeth.

will a EJ18 impreza MT fit a 90 legacy?

will it?

I found a rebuildable core from an EJ18 impreza, but I can't seem to find any info on whether or not it will work in my legacy.

No, I didn't bother paying any attention to temper and I didn't quench it at all, just let it cool at room temp. I just heated it up and bent it. The first tip I actually got a little too hot and burned a bit of it away. It was literally about a 5 minute job, including dragging out the torch and lig...

if you mean do you really have to push them in there hard to get them in, the answer for mine was yes, and the tool helped for that too. I also put a little oil on the o rings.

yes. I had to twist back and forth as I pulled, but that was it. I used it to push it back in too.

I modified a pair of old needlenose pliers to make an injector pulling tool. it worked great, and made it go really fast and easy.
