[Prothane Retrofit Update] Re: 92' Legacy Control Arm Bushin

Well, against your better advice I went with the Prothane kit for the WRX. Agreed that its a pain in the butt. I ended up pushing the center of the rubber bushings out with a rented ball joint press, then I hacksawed through the outer ring of the bushing and pounded out that ring. From there it was ...

Control Arm Bushings - 1 Time Use Nuts, New Hardware Needed?

So I'm going through my front suspension, replacing original bushings with eBay Prothane ones. Currently the front and rear, front lower control arm bushings. I noticed a small asterisk in my Chilton next to the torque specs for a few of the nuts used when bolting things back together, saying that t...

Re: 92' Legacy Control Arm Bushing Suggestions

Is it a real pain to do? From others descriptions it didn't sound too bad.

If those 95-99 Legacy parts would fit, I would be incline to use them for half the price of 2 of the STi ones.

92' Legacy Control Arm Bushing Suggestions

I need to replace the front, lower rear control arm bushings in my 2WD '92 Sedan. I've seen threads on some of the poly bushings for the newer imprezas fitting our cars, but not exactly some of the kits currently on ebay. I was looking at this energy kit for an 02-06 WRX: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymot...

FWIW in mixed driving around town i just got 23.4 MPG.

I just recently replaced the negative battery lead as it showed some slight corrosion at the ends. Is it worth replacing the positive lead as well? It visually seems fine. I don't think it's in bad enough shape to be the cause of my problem.

Mileage is pretty average I think, low to mid 20's in town, flirts with 30 on long trips. It's an AWD w/4EAT. I thought coolant temp sensor as well, so I replaced it less than 1k ago. No change in behavior. I guess I could check its connection back to the ECU. Is that something that tends to go bad ...

I have a similar problem to the one described in the beginning of this thread. After sitting for a couple/few days my wagon fires right up, after a quick trip and back in the car, it will fire up. But let it sit for 1 to 24 hours or so and it wants to sit and crank for 5-10 seconds before it starts....

Override automatic climate control in 90 LS Wagon?

So I have a 90 wagon with the super deluxe automatic climate control. I'd like to use this car for running up to the mountains to go skiing, but the fact that the blower for the defrost/heater won't come on until the engine has completely warmed up is basically a deal killer. Any thoughts on adding ...

WTB - 4EAT

I have a 90 N/A LS Wagon, tranny is on its way out, looking for one to drop in. The current 4EAT isn't original, 92 i believe, and I have the 3.90 rear diff. I'm in Portland, have friends in Seattle, and am open to a bit of a road trip. Rebuilt or low miles is always nice, but I'd consider most anyt...

Couple of more bits of info I forgot to add to the above post: Pin 4 on my B46 connector on the TCU was already filled with a teal blue wire. I cut it and wired up the 'Power' switch from there. Anyone else had this pin occupied on their connector already? CEL was on for knock sensor, after cutting ...

b3lha, thanks for the update about the 1990 USDM legacy. I have that car, a 90 USDM Wagon and successfully installed the power mode button. I believe I was only successful because my 4EAT is out of a 92 (I think, TZ102ZA2AA-MH) as well as the TCU (31711 AB394). I wanted to get the users on this thre...

Some new information to toss into the mix: Added a manual override 'Power' mode switch as described in this thread: http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?t=34807&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=25 The switch seems to function as described, flip it, grounding pin 4 and it lights up th...

Ok, so pulling some numbers off the car: TCU: Big Letters: GJ Number: 31711 AB394 Second Number: JA64000 RL5 2228 From a couple of hits on a google search, this seems to be out of a 92. Transmission: Number: TZ102ZA2AA-MH According to this site: http://www.prosubaru.com/tech/transid.htm its from a 1...

How to ID JDM 4EAT and TCU?

Hi, I just recently purchase a 1990 Legacy LS Wagon, 4WD, 4EAT. I was told by the previous owner, who took it to a tranny shop, that the transmission was a JDM 4EAT. How can I determine if this is the case? It has some issues shifting, if its in D, even babying it from a start it wants to roll up to...
