Re: Newer (5EAT or CVT) auto trans in 91 SS?

HI, Kind of a tangent, but FWIW, you CAN swap in any 4EAT from '90-'98, based on what I've read and your original TCU/TCM will run it - and it'll plug-in on the bellhousing harness (still might want the TCU w/the Trans). If you didn't know, the '95-'98 2.2 were 4.11 FD ratio; '96-'98 were 4.44 (OB,...

Re: 1991 legacy turbo 4eat to manual

FWIW, when I swapped my '91SS I got a donor manual SS to get the various tranny mounts, pedals, master/slave cylinders, etc. I ran that 5 speed until it grenaded 2nd, then put in the tranny and matching rear diff from an '06 WRX (along with slave cylinder and anything else that was necessary).

Re: 2004 outback awd drivetrain fit a 1991 legacy awd??

When I swapped my '91 and put an '06 WRX 5 spd tranny and diff in (and it looks like the Outback has the same setup as that WRX), I was able to reuse the '91 Legacy manual prop shaft (I had it remanufactured, though) once I changed out the flange on the input of the rear diff. I had to use the '91 C...

Or if anyone knows of a way to electronically/hydraulically/pneumatically shift a manual transmission.

Times like these, I really wish Subaru had a dual clutch tranny in their offerings.

Newer (5EAT or CVT) auto trans in 91 SS?

Is it possible to swap a newer 5 spd or CVT auto trans into a '91 SS? I was involved in a motorcycle accident in late 2017 and lost the use of my left arm (and later had it amputated), so I can no longer hold the wheel and shift at the same time. I can drive an automatic with a spinner knob on the w...

Re: EvoScan - Subaru Select monitor

The drivers, I just went into the device manager and uninstalled the drivers for the cable (show hidden devices without the cable hooked up, then uninstalled the openport 1.3 Mitsubishi entry), then went into the program files folder and used the ones there for the openport 1.3, then also did the op...

Re: EvoScan - Subaru Select monitor

I am running 10 on my Surface. It seems to be reading fine after reinstalling the drivers, so that's something. I haven't had a chance to take it out to test yet since it has been raining and I am lazy. Just getting the motivation up to install all the parts I have collected for it after a year of p...

Re: EvoScan - Subaru Select monitor

...and i feel like an idiot. Uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and it seems to be working. Also noticed that the software defaulted to 1953 baud rate, so switching it to 4800 like it is supposed to do seems to have done the trick. Out of curiosity, does anyone have a comprehensive list of the ...

Re: EvoScan - Subaru Select monitor

Sorry to bump this from the dead, but I need some help. I cannot get evoscan to read my new robtune ECU. It will not connect to the ECU using any of the options in the software. Everything worked well back in the day with the stock ecu, but this is giving me hell. I read somewhere that he changes th...

Re: Koyo & Mishimoto Radiator Failures!!! (Legacy Turbo Mode

If you guys are interested in coming up with a better solution, I can talk to the guys over at Griffin radiator to see about how much they could make one for. They don't have anything for the legacy turbo yet, but if I tell them the problems with other aftermarket radiators they may be able to help....

Re: Looking for ECU Pins (not pinout diagram)

Pretty much what I was expecting to hear, unfortunately. all the kits it mentions in there seem to be terminals pre-crimped to a wire. I just ordered a bunch of the non-insulated terminals and some various colors of wire. When I go stand-alone, I won't have to worry about those connectors anymore an...

Looking for ECU Pins (not pinout diagram)

I was looking to do some major rewiring of my Legacy some time in the not-so distant future, and was wondering where to get ECU harness pins. I am planning on replacing the engine compartment plug with something else, but I am going to be able to replace both sides, so I can use just about anything....

Re: Automatic Air Conditioner

Looking though the parts book, the only one they have shown with auto a/c is the second one posted, but it has listing for 2 different part numbers for control panels for '91 (up to June, and July on) as well as a different part # for '90 and '92. They may just be slightly different wiring-wise, but...

Re: header/up pipe/downpipe for ej22t

Cheap headers aren't worth it. Expensive ones aren't worth it unless you are building something crazy. I went through a few sets of cheap ones before biting the bullet and getting some good ones. Had I thought about it at the time, I should have kept the stock manifold, but I was moving and didn't h...

Re: HKS FCD.

It may be set to clamp the signal too high or release it too low. Mine had 2 little flathead dials. One set the clamp voltage, while the other set the release voltage. It would clamp it once it hit the first voltage, then release at the higher voltage. This way you could maintain fuel cut at a highe...

In your second pic, it looks like you were counting from the wrong side of the plug. It's that same row, but 4th position in from the opposite side (not 4th wire, since the 1st position is unoccupied). Oh, and in case you wanted some sort of assurance, I have been running this for at least 5 years w...

Kinda shitty picture, but it is on B48.4. Black wire, with a red and white on either side of it. Purple wire from the fcd goes there, green should hook up to the input.

Re: Maciek's 2.35L Turbo Build (Update CAR IS RUNNING!!!)

It may be a bit of hassle, but you should just have to set cylinder 1 to TDC, then mark the pulley at the 0 mark on the little scale. Shouldn't have to really take all that much stuff apart to do that.... I had a similar issue with my WRX crank pulley (didn't have a mark whatsoever), so I just did t...

Re: passenger door weather strip

Cheap one, probably not gonna happen unless you find a decent condition one from a yard or the like. I ordered a set from the stealership, and they are getting to very low stock (I think 1 passenger side left in-country and they are contacting Japan to try to get the driver side for me). IIRC, they ...

I was wondering, what was the verdict on using the stock BCS with the robtune? I thought I remember reading somewhere that it would work, but I can't seem to find that post anymore. I have an AEM boost controller, but I kinda prefer letting the ECU handle things wherever possible.
