Yeah I was looking at that. Kinda a pain in the ass, but very doable to cut it open and take out what you want. There is just so much junk in this thing that it drives me crazy. I want it out!

Pulled Dash, What all can I eliminate??

I decided to pull the dash on our 91' Legacy to do some winter cleaning. The car was originally an automatic and converted to a manual. And now we are making a wanna-be race car out of it, so things that we done need must go! I only want the bare necessities in the car but I am not sure what is abso...

The car is ALIVE!!! Its been a while, thats for sure but we got the ol' Leggy up and running again under its own power! The problem we had was the transmission was making noise.. Tore it down and found a bad first gear (still worked great, just sounded horrid)... We ended up taking two spare transmi...

I do this all the time with no issues what so ever. Once they are off I clean the crap off and anti-seize them so I don't have to do it again the next time the car comes back. As long the car is racked properly and your not a moron, there should be zero issues. There are a few vehicles I will not do...

We have a transmission!!!!! A local Subaru member donated a 02 WRX transmission that had a blown 3rd gear. We simply took our diff and shafts and dropped it into the case. Perfect fit, we now have reverse!! It will be put together this week sometime... Hoping to have it back in the car by the end of...

Its been put on the back burner.... We are trying to figure out our transmission issues. I am trying to find parts on the cheap to piece it all together correctly.

WTB!! Input shaft

Looking for a good input shaft for a 3.90 4 bolt transmission. Do not need the gears on it, just the input shaft with the fixed 1st and reverse gears on it.

We have the Icebears on my wifes Forester. They work well for what they are. She runs them year round and they are wearing well. I have played around in the snow with them and they are OK. They are no where near my WS-50's but for how she drives they are perfect!

Our downpipe (SPT) and mid pipe are off of a WRX. The axle back is all custom into a supertrap muffler.

We are having transmission issues at the moment. It needs to come back out and torn down to figure out why we have no reverse.

We have a Build Thread also, click on the link in my signature.

Yeah, we figured this out. I put back in the 3.90 front diff and drive pinion that came out of it and will also put on the original rear case so everything matches.

I was wondering how you decided how many shims to use. Did you check it using this guy?: http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?t=40986 If you have that sucker, mind giving me a few measurements? The fore-aft measurements are the only ones that are really important. I do not have that nor did I...

The drive pinion shaft and diff are a matching set from the same 06' WRX transmission. I am unaware of any numbers on the shaft or the diff because I did not look for them. The ring gears on the diff of the Legacy 2.5gt and the WRX were the same tooth count wise. The adjustments are shims, and I use...

Our Frankenstein 5mt

We bought a 91' Turbo Legacy that someone converted to a 5mt, with a 3.90 LSD. The trans was making some awful noises so we took it apart to find first gear on the input shaft toasted (it still worked 100%, just noisy as crap)... We then acquired two free donor transmissions hoping to make one good ...

This thing has been put on the back burner for to long now! I really want to get this thing back up and running within the next few weeks if at all possible. We pulled the 5-speed out and tore it down to see what was making all of the noise and it turned out to be first gear on the input shaft. The ...

So it has been a while since we have updated everyone on anything, and for good reason! We simply have not had the time to do anything. We have had the transmission out since the last race and we just got to tear it down the other day. We found out that the source of our noise it a broken first gear...
