The Car: 90 Legacy L 5mt, 200K, N/A Recently my car has been running a bit rougher at idle so I did a bit of a tuneup: plugs, cleaned maf (i have a K&N), new O2 sensor (walker), reset ecu, fresh oil and oem filter. Also (someone correct me if i'm wrong here) I believe part of the reason those engines get piston slap is that they don't have skirted pistons. That plug (front on drivers side) seems to have a tendency to get rusty, mine does it as well. My theory on it is that because of the battery being in the way it's hard to get the boot seated all the way on the plug so it doesn't seal against the engine as well so water can seep in and cause rust.

Out of curiosity, does the car use much/any oil? I know mine uses a bit so we're constantly checking it which means occasionally it gets a little overfilled (stupid dipsticks...on the car that is). I notice when this happens it can potentially push more oil vapor out the pcv system into the intake. ...
