Re: What did you do to your Subie today?

I put my 50,000th mile on this car since buying it three and a half years ago. Bought it with 202,000 miles on it and the goal of putting 50,000 on it. Looks like I will try for 100,000 now! Go for it! I put 100k on mine in 6 years. The guy I'm, hopefully, buying a SpecB from put 50k on his in two ...

I would suggest looking for an Mi/Alpine Sport since they came with the factory ones, but maybe there aren't too many in Hawaii.

Re: What did you do to your Subie today?

I'm thinking about getting a salvage engine, and getting that one done, and doing a swap.

Both Sunwest (though it's a phase 2) and S & J have rebuilt EJ22 for under $3000.

I really wanted to get it through one more emissions test, and then put a EE20 in it.

It's going somewhere, and it does not appear to be leaking.

Re: Heater blower motor replacement motor

Wes seemed pretty cool. I have to call him up and see if the sedan has been cleared to salvage on the morrow.

While I was in FW this afternoon, I saw an alternator shop. I will try to contact them maybe next week and see if they might be more helpful about the brushes.

Perhaps a continuity tester with a long lead, and a DVM? SC I will start there and try to source the problem lead down. Thankyou for your input! im sure it was a no brainer but i am very inexperienced with car electrical systems. so any guide or sense of direction given to me helps so much! Im lear...

IMO, the bold text makes it hard to read, as if the whole board is fuzzy.

Re: Heater blower motor replacement motor

Wow! Yes it was South End Auto Wrecking! The car was up against the fence so I couldn't go in through the passenger side. It's in the back corner with a couple of dozen cars in front of it, so I guess it's been there a long time. They have a sedan that is waiting for the paperwork to clear. I didn't...

Re: What did you do to your Subie today?

325 thousand miles would recommend a rebuild. I would prefer if it didn't consume so much oil. The suggested cost of the rebuild was $4500. Or is that way off?

Re: What did you do to your Subie today?

After scavenging blower motors down in Tacoma, I stopped at PIA.

Ignorance is bliss. Looks like she has a blown head gasket. However I think the car has had a blown head gasket since I bought it, as it's always gone through coolant.

So, now I need to get serious about another Suby!

Re: Heater blower motor replacement motor

I picked up 3 OEM blower motors and one aftermarket motor. The aftermarket motor was bought at Carquest and doesn't have the connector, but had the two wires coming out of it, which had connectors crimped on, and taped into the connector on the loom. In a bit I'll get to opening up the motors to loo...

Re: Heater blower motor replacement motor

Hopefully this will keep the motor working for a bit longer. Well, it lasted a bit longer. I broke down and took the glove box, and the glove box mount out, to get the blower motor out again. It didn't even want to spin when I was holding it in my hand, and turned on. :( I took the bottom cover off...

So far it's working really well! Something is rubbing, so this weekend I might consider dropping it again and see if I can see what's what. For future reference, if your fan motor is behaving erratically, and you suspect that it might just be the same thing that happened with mine I will suggest thi...

Re: Heater blower motor replacement motor

With a bit more spelunking around on the interwebs, I found this fun thread at USMB, and that seems to have helped out substantially. The motor spools up when I turn on the HVAC, as opposed to having to build up speed. I also didn't have to knock on it to get it spinning. I'm not sure if this is a l...

Heater blower motor replacement motor

It would seem that the heater blower motor in my car is dying. I picked up a replacement motor at ORLYS only to find that it doesn't fit*. I did test it by connecting it, and I think you could fly a small plane with that motor! Returning it was fairly painless. So other than going and trying to find...
