Anyone have any ideas on where to get the instrument bulbs? I went to Advance Auto and they want $5 for two! I need the whole set. I wonder if I can get them cheaper from Subaru?

The illumination fuse is ok, so I am assuming it is a bad illumination control unit. This may be a stupid question, but since I have a good working illumination control unit, could I swap in the "good" control unit into the car with the illumination not working to prove that it is definite...

If it is the ashtray light plug, then it will energize when the lights(parking or headlights) are on, with the key on.
