Re: VLSD Failure? AKA The Clunk From Hell

While doing the lateral arm bushings, I found that one of my axles make a HELL of a noise when I try to rotate the diff... It seems as though I have a binding when I force the other wheel to turn compared to just letting the diff pick which one. It's also an aftermarket axle, replaced some unknown ...

Re: VLSD Failure? AKA The Clunk From Hell

I know you've changed some bushings but no mention of the outrigger bushing. I've had issues with mine in the past and sounds exactly what mine was doing. I did change mine but that's not why it was making noise, it was the bracket that you bolt on was bent. I did it from jacking the car right on t...

I've had the car up and had the whole rear end out at least twice since I started having this problem. I haven't noticed anything in my time working on things.

VLSD Failure? AKA The Clunk From Hell

I've posted about this a few times over the past year. The rear end of my car clunks like hell whenever the car is under heavy load. This can be when I have anyone sitting in the back seats, I'm driving up a hill or any time I try to shift hard. At a stop light and I want to drop the clutch? Noooo. ...

Getting cold out, voltage drop happening

Hello everyone, It just started dropping below freezing here and I've noticed that at idle my battery, ABS and brake lights all light up. This happens both when I have driven the car for both short and long (1.5 hours on freeway) periods of time. My initial thought is that my alternator is starting ...

Got my decals from just-rust the other day! Thought I would share some pictures. I've been wanting a LC decal for such a long time to join the others.

Re: WRX Whiteline rear sway bar

I didn't get pictures. It does work. However it's a serious PITA in my opinion. The bushings that come with the bar have to have the lip trimmed off of them to fit the older sway bar bracket mounts. If I ever had to do this again I would just buy a bar made for the Legacy. Even though Whiteline onl...

instead of saying I installed that or bought it. you can say "I built that". and to me, thats worth more then its weight in gold by far because you can be proud of your work and not everyone can say something like that.. Ahh, the exact reason why I labored for so many days (weeks?) over g...

Re: 5 Speed Manual into Auto RHD AWD Legacy

If I were to take a guess I would say that you could probably use a set of pedals from any 93-07 impreza or WRX (so long as they're from both a RHD car and they're for a wet clutch). I used a set of pedals from an 06 WRX when I did my auto to manual swap.

Hey talk to the person(s) at http://www.undergroundgrfx.com/ They're the ones that do all the NASIOC stickers, and they're turn around time is great. Or talk to the guys over at subiestickers.com, I was actually in the process of having them design a logo for us but that project fell by the wayside....

Also for the outrigger bushings, would you suggest getting a set of the inserts? (http://turninconcepts.com/kartboy-rear- ... -race.html) or replacing the entire bushing. I'm usually more inclined to cut out the old bushing and replace the whole thing.

Re: Rear end clunking, I'm starting to hear it in my dreams

Running just stock 15" SS rims with appropriate tires, I replaced just the rear diff bushings so I'll order a set of outrigger bushings as well, and I cut the spare tire bump off with an angle grinder so that shouldnt be an issue

Re: Rear end clunking, I'm starting to hear it in my dreams

Well that more or less confirms my use of the "keep fixing things till it stops" approach. I'm going to throw in a set of STI springs here before fall hits as well so my struts will get checked out again.

Rear end clunking, I'm starting to hear it in my dreams

For a few months now my car has been making quite a bit of rear end clunking, and while i've managed to fix it substantially it's still there. Started out of the blue when I was driving with 4 other passengers in my car. When I would accelerate hard the car sounded like I was hitting a pothole, loud...

Re: WRX Whiteline rear sway bar

I have an OEM STI sway bar on my car, and yes you need to get rid of the bump. I used an angle grinder...and while its not pretty it works. Also, when you cut into the bump you won't be cutting a hole into your trunk, its a hollow space.

I've done the whole CX Racing FMIC install too, so I feel obligated to post here too for anyone else that wants to attempt this. My setup was sorta jerry rigged so I had to run the piping differently (someone stole the FMIC package off my front porch, got it back from the cops missing half the pipin...
