Re: Power steering pump/or rack and pinion problem

The same thing basically happened to me too, some spots I felt the power, other spots the wheel would be hard to turn and want to stay in place. I thought it was the pump and swapped it out for another I had but it didn't fix it. I wound up finding a used rack with lower miles to swap in, but when I...

Re: My Turbo Coupe

Cool project. I'd love to pick up a ford with a 2.3 turbo, my friend has a Merkur XR4ti and it was definitely a fun car, easy to work on and big power potential, it has an Esslinger head now. I tried to pick up an SVO a few years back but the deal fell through. Would love to see updates.

Nice article. "If a car show enthusiast accidentally jumps onto a drifting forum, chances are he’ll be annihilated within minutes of his first post. If a drag racer tries to show off his latest creation on a forum full of J-style worshippers, there will probably be a pack of keyboard warriors r...

Re: ggbox69's 94 Turbo Wagon

I'll have to try the stay bushing again next time I'm under there. Got the car emissions tested this week and it passed on the Robtune with no cats. A feat I had previously thought impossible, but a couple of my friends advised me to give it a shot as CT allows you a free re-test within a couple wee...

Re: 91 SS to RSRA Spec bare shell complete restoration/build

Very cool, I like seeing the relatively exotic designs used in race cars and with brands like Ferrari throughout the years. I mean how cool is a flat 12? Also cool to see the gear designs, its hard enough thinking about ratio, loading, packaging and the basics, but designing around valvetrain harmon...

Kill: B8 Audi A4, looked lowered so possibly some mods Came up behind him at a red light that leads straight onto a wide connecting highway in my town, lots of racing goes down here. I figured he'd ring it out so got ready, nobody got on the highway ahead of us so I know the coast was clear. He putt...

I too would love to see more pictures of what you work on, I'd put my Legacy aside to work on those machines any day!! I used that Cosworth engine pic for my desktop background at work, I'm an engineer for a gear manufacturer and that is some nice gear porn.

Re: ggbox69's 94 Turbo Wagon

I know the missed shift feeling all too well, I got pretty adjusted to the old feel. With the WRX linkage 5th to 4th took getting used to, had to stab around for it at first. Probably my favorite downshift though, I run into an 04 Mystichrome Cobra on my way home from work once in a while and we mes...

Re: ggbox69's 94 Turbo Wagon

Braved the cold to install some new parts: - WRX Shifter w/new bushings and joint along with Kartboy mounts and Knob - Turn In Concepts trans cross-member bushings - Group N trans mount and pitch stop - Samco turbo hose kit (TCS22) to replace my leaking charge pipe The car had felt a little down on ...

Re: Anyone ever installed an aftermarket pitch stop?

I recently installed the Group-N trans mount and pitch stop with no major problems. Took out the old pitch stop, installed the trans mount and TIC cross member bushings, and the new pitch stop fell right into place. Definitely got some additional noise/vibs into the cabin but I don't mind it after a...

Re: new front axle.... which are ABS?

I replaced my front axles last year and had some issues with fitment. I forget the brand axle but they were purchased from Advanced, I don't remember which vehicle I specified, either 93 SS or 94 N/A as my car is made from both. I also don't remember which knuckles are on my car, if I kept the 94 kn...

Nice find, I might have to get one as well. I see what you mean about the WRX bushings not working, was hoping to make the WRX bracket work but that looks like a bit of a project now.

Got some new parts today, finally going to replace all the old 200,000 mile bushings and isolators that are causing my drivetrain to slap around and feel sloppy. Group N Engine/Trans/Pitch Mount, Turn In Concepts Klunk Killer (diff and outrigger bushings) and trans crossmember bushings. http://imagi...

Re: Whiteline steering rack bushing will NOT fit

I installed these bushings last year and had fitment issues, I think it was just like in your photos. I think what was happening with mine was that the bushing was a tight fit and when put on the rack and then pushed into the bracket on the crossmember, it would deform and bind up, and not adjust to...

Re: ggbox69's 94 Turbo Wagon

Thanks guys, I like to help out with the pictures and details. Taking the pictures helps me in the end too, right after I got it running it wasn't making any boost until like 4500 rpm, and then full boost. Since it eventually made full boost I figured nothing mechanical was wrong and I started to do...

Now running!

Got the car running this weekend, this setup is awesome! Couldn't stop smiling driving it around and getting a feel for it. It is a totally different animal. More power across the board, like the stock setup it spools pretty early but the mid-range is stronger and actually keeps pulling hard to redl...

Been able to put in a little time on the build lately. I was getting pretty frustrated with the 06 intercooler, between needing a hacked up Y-pipe and the plastic construction, I wound up picking up a V2 STI intercooler on Nasioc for cheap, complete with the charge pipe, scoop, and ducting (with squ...

Re: Amazed at how clean valvetrain is (pics)

I experienced the same thing when I did my swap and changed the cover gaskets. The engine had about 136,000 on it and everything looked new, I was amazed. One of my mechanic friends said the previous owner must had been religious about oil changes.

Same problem with this Y pipe, where the driver side inlet pipe meets the Y, they are about 3/4 of an inch off center, but are parallel. I saw a couple pictures of people using the hump hose, I am hoping it will get me by for now, definitely not ideal. Did yours not fit at all? I did some searching ...

I decided to do a comprehensive brake job this past weekend. Ever since I've had the car it has demonstrated some shaking in the wheel during braking that I just haven't been able to get rid of. ggbox69's 94 Turbo Wagon

After about a year of driving my basically stock EJ22T swapped 94 wagon, I'm ready to take it a step further. I've been pulling parts together to do what seems like a pretty standard build: Stock long block VF 39 06 WRX TMIC Yellow tops JECS MAF Robtune EJ20G ECU AEM wideband MBC 3'' Turbo back Apex...
